Professional Arts Building 99 Sinclair Ave., Suite 210 Georgetown (905) 873-6642 New technology developed in the past several years can help most people with hearing loss to achieve improved communication. Todays hearing instruments have evo lved from s imple dev ices to remarkably sophisticated and technologically advanced personal hearing computers. In just the last few years, more advances in hearing aid techno logy have been made than throughout history. In many hearing aids, there are no longer knobs or controls, because the instruments automatically adjust loudness. Some hearing aids are programmed so that they require only the push of a button either on the hearing aid or on a wireless remote control to switch to different listening situations and provide balanced sound in the office, at home, on the telephone, or at a concert. Digital and digitally programmab le hearing aids have been introduced that amplify signals in new ways and make the benefits of hearing aids even more customized. Many hearing aids are v i r tua l ly computers w i th f lex ib le and sophisticated processors that analyze and respond to specific sounds. Some advanced hearing instruments process sound more than a million times per second. To f ind out more about these lates t advancements call.... The Georgetown Independent & Free Press, Wednesday, August 27, 2008 15 A couple of Halton Hills residents cemented their status as being among the top 14-year-old female soccer play- ers in the country after their perfor- mances at the recent BMO National Championships at Sherwood Park, Alta. Striker Jade Kovacevic of Stewart- town and Terra Cotta midfielder Nicole Waters played prominent roles for Ontarios under-14 side as they captured the Canadian Soccer Association title with a 2-1 triumph over B.C. in the final. Kovacevic chalked up six goals in five games during the nine-team tour- nament, finishing second in overall scoring behind a teammate who tallied seven times in the opening 14-0 trouncing of P.E.I. Waters scored twice and was a solid two-way presence for the champs. Their Ontario under-14 head coach, Georgetown South resident Ruben Flores, said that both players impressed the Canadian Soccer Association scouting officials on hand for the event and wouldnt be sur- prised if one or even both locals repre- sent Canada at some stage. Nicole is a very technical player and shes come a long way in a short period of time, said Flores, who played professionally in the U.S., Mexico and Italy. Shes played for me for two years now and every position Ive needed her to play shes been very reliable. She has a good shot and can see the game really well. Jades just a horse. She has played different positions as well and at the moment of truth, she came out and showed us she can do what it takes. She scored a lot of goals and was our most consistent player at the tournament. Waters and Kovacevic both play for the Oakville Titans under-14 club team, which was beaten 1-0 on Saturday by Pickering at Cambridge in the semifinals of the Ontario Cup play- downs. They will soon begin tryouts for next years under-15 provincial team, but because the Canadian tournament is held every two years, theyll have to wait until their under-16 years to attempt a repeat as national champi- ons.
