Not only was it the first day of school for Quinn, but also his very first day at Limehouse School. Photo by Ted Brown There will be a mix of new and traditional favourite activities and events at this years Georgetown Fall Fair set for this weekend. The fair is a family-friendly way to spend a day with lots of activities and entertainment, combining both education and just good fun, said Kim Sopinka, a member of the Georgetown Agricultural Society. New this year at the fair set for Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Georgetown Fairgrounds will be the FMX Freestyle Motocross Show, said Sopinka. Each day of the fair top professional motocross riders will jump, twist, spin and fly their machines while per- forming stunts high above the crowd. The FMX Freestyle Motocross shows will be held at 4:30 and 6:30 p.m. Friday, 2, 4, and 6:30 p.m. Saturday and noon, 1:45, and 3 p.m. Sunday. Also new this year will be The Cheerforce Flyers, mounted pony games and Maple the Cow. Maple the Cow is a life-size fiberglass Holstein cow that provides a fun and informa- tive hands-on way for families to learn about milk and dairy farming in Ontario. Children of all ages will have the chance to actually milk Maple allowing them to experi- ence what its like to get milk from a cow. There will also be a childrens craft centre where kids will have the opportunity to do crafts and there will be displays by both chil- dren and adults. A long line-up of popular favourite events are also scheduled, including the Demolition Derby slated for 7 p.m. Saturday. Other events include the lawn and garden tractor pull, kiddie pedal tractor pull, pet show, 4X4 truck pull, demolition derby, dairy show and a petting zoo. There will also be a rabbit show and heavy horse show. Entertainment includes The Smudge Fundaes, The Puppet Tamer, Sandy Stompers, Barney the Magician, The Ben Show, Tubby the Tuba and Rolly Rocker and the Hemi Heads. Battle of the Bands will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday. The fair is open from 4-11 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $15 for a weekend pass, $5 Friday and Sunday for adults, $8 Saturday, $3 for children aged 7 to 12. Children under 6 are free. Fall fair to open Friday LISA TALLYN Staff Writer
