Time to register for Library programs At the Library September is undoubtedly a kid-focused time. All that back-to-schooling keeps parents busy with pencil-crayon-purchasing and university-packing, and more. And while the Halton Hills Public Library is a great place to get a start on all of those homework assignments, school projects, and get- ting-ready-for-kindergarten stories, it does not mean that the very youngest should feel left out. The library has lots of things for babies (and their parents too). Here is a selection: You are never too young to enjoy a good book, and that goes for babies too. The library has a col- lection of baby board books, perfect for little hands to hold and less destructible than their paper coun- terparts. Plus there are also fun CDs with childrens songs to get you and your baby into a musical mood. And speaking of activities with your baby, the library has a collection of baby-friendly DVDs. For example the Baby Einstein series which includes titles such as Baby Newton, Baby Mozart and many others can let you introduce the world of music, numbers, art, letters and more. Feeding, clothing, and playing with babies, helping them when they are sick and dealing with sleeping and other parenting issues can all be very challenging. While nothing can replace the good advice of health care professionals, the library has all sorts of parenting books and magazines in the parenting section of the childrens library a great place to browse. If you are interested in activities you can do with your baby, the library offers a special program called Baby Tales for babies from 6-months to 23- months old and a caregiver. You and baby can join us for 20 minutes of stories, rhymes, rhythm and movement in the company of other adults and babies. Registration is required for this program and can be accomplished through the library web- site at www.library.hhpl.on.ca. Just click on the Kids heading and follow the links. New sessions start in October at both branches of the library (Georgetown and Acton) and for the first time this fall at the Gellert Community Centre.
