Independent & Free Press, Wednesday, September 10, 2008 7 Four men from the Greater Toronto Area have been charged with weapons offences after gunshots were reported in the Eighth Line-27 Sideroad vicinity Monday at around 4 a.m. Halton Police responded to the firearms call and upon arrival a vehicle attempted to flee the scene but was pulled over by offi- cers. A subsequent search discovered a semi-automatic rifle, a shotgun and numer- ous pieces of ammunition. A Toronto man has been arrested in connection with a home invasion that occurred at a Georgetown residence last month. Police say a man, who had left a jacket at a party at the residence back in February, returned to the location on Aug. 14 to try to retrieve it. Two males forced their way into the res- idence occupied by a lone female, threaten- ing and assaulting the victim before leaving with a video game console. The woman was not seriously injured. After an investigation, charges of rob- bery, break and enter and forcible confine- ment have been laid against 28-year-old Ibrahim Redha. Charges have been laid against two more people in the August 8 ambush and assault of a local 22-year-old man at the George- town Fairgrounds. The victim had arranged to meet a female friend at the baseball diamond, off Hyde Park Dr., and was lured into a wood- ed area near the park. He was then assaulted by two males, but was not seriously hurt. Charged with assault and conspiracy to commit assault are Katielyn Sproule, 19, of Georgetown and Matthew Gilroy, 20, also of Orangeville. A 22-year-old Orangeville man had been charged earlier. The Safe Self Storage facility located at Winston Churchill Blvd. and Steeles Ave. was broken into sometime early Saturday and the locks on 28 of the storage units were cut. Entry was gained by cutting through an outside fence. Police continue to investigate whether anything was stolen. A break and enter to the Coffee Time shop at Trafalgar Rd. and Steeles Ave. took place overnight Friday after thieves got inside the store through a window. An automated bank machine was dam- aged and an office was ransacked. An undisclosed amount of cash was taken and police are looking for suspects. A Georgetown man has been charged with impaired driving and having 80 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood in his system stemming from a traffic stop on Saturday evening on Sargent Rd. Jose Tavares, 27, was pulled over for a driving offence before being charged. The Georgetown Optimist Clubs home base on Trafalgar Rd. was the target of thieves in the overnight hours of Sept. 3-4. A 17-inch computer monitor and an undisclosed amount of alcohol was taken after entry was made through a barred win- dow. The theft is estimated at about $300. Police were called to a Tenth Line busi- ness in Halton Hills last Wednesday evening in response to a domestic-related incident. A 35-year-old Georgetown woman has been charged with assault with a weapon and dangerous driving. A theft from an unlocked automobile was reported on McKinnon Ave. in Georgetown South overnight Saturday.
