Acton/Georgetown, Friday, September 12, 2008 5 Invest igators f rom the Peel Specia l Victims Unit are seeking the publics assis- tance in locating victims of sexual assaults that may have occurred between 1981 and 1982 after an Acton man faced more charges this week. Investigators from the Peel Regional Police Special Victims Unit arrested and charged Garth Stanwyn Bent, a 48-year-old from Acton, with four counts of indecent sexual assault Tuesday in relation to inci- dents that took place between 1981 and 1982. Bent was currently before the courts with respect to a charge of indecent sexual assault laid in January. During the time of the alleged assaults, Bent was a youth counsel, or youth pastor, at St. Brides Church in Mississauga. He was also the out-trip director at the Ontario Pioneer Camp in Port Sydney, Ont. The five victims were 12 to 14 years old at the time of the assaults. Investigators believe that there may be more victims who have yet to come forward to police. Investigators are asking that any victims, or anyone who has had dealings with Bent, to contact the Special Victims Unit at 905- 453-3311 ext . 3460 or cal l Peel Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS/8477. Halton Police report thieves made off with approximately $7,400 worth of spooled copper wire, tools and ladders from a con- struction site on Todd Rd. some time early Tuesday morning. The Greenport Environmental Recycling Corp. building was broken into, with $4,000 in copper wire and $3,400 in tools and lad- ders stolen from the site. The tools and ladders had Kirby Electric logos on them. Halton Police are looking for suspects involved in the spray painting of a school bus parked behind Tiny Tots Daycare on Mountainview Rd. N. during the Labour Day long weekend. The bus was defaced with vulgar and dis- paraging grafitti. A damage estimate was not given. Several vehicles all with their doors unlocked were entered by prowlers in the Stewarts Mill subdivision during the early morning hours Tuesday. Among the items taken were a GPS sys- tem, two purses, a wallet, cash, a cell phone, sunglasses and coins. Several discarded items were found at a North Ridge Cres. address. Another theft from a vehicle on Bowman Cres. overnight Monday resulted in $1,450 worth of electronics being stolen. A GPS system, two iPods and a radio transmission went missing. A digital camera and sunglasses valued at $800 were snatched from a vehicle parked in a driveway on Forsyth Cres. Wednesday morning.
