W.O. H.E. Kux (Bert) passed away peacefully in his 64th year with his wife Heidi at his side. Bert joined the Canadian Army as an apprentice soldier in 1960, retiring in 1988. The highlights of his 28 year military career includes: CFB Lahr and CFB Baden in Ger- many, the Airborne Regiment in Edmonton, RSS Pacific in Vancouver, HMCS Mackenzie and HMCS Kootenay in Victoria and four United Nations Peace- keeping Tours in Egypt and Cyprus where he saw armed conflict. After retirement Bert continued an- other 10 years with the naval Reserves in Victoria and most recently with the Corps of Commission- a i r e s a t V i c t o r i a A i r p o r t . H e w a s a n a v i d outdoorsman, hunter and fisherman and once he had experienced the beauty of Canada's West Coast he knew he'd never want to live anywhere else. He met and married his beloved wife Heidi and was the cherished father of their son Kurt. Hubert was the loved son of Walter and Emma Kux and adored big brother to Karen Kux Smith (Brad) and Ron Kux (Leslie). Uncle to nephews Bryan and Marc, Stephen and Shayne and niece Amy. He will be sadly missed by Heidi's parents Rudy and Poldi Fialo of Victoria and Aunt and Uncle Marie and Walter Steinke and cousins in Toronto and extended family in Austria and Germany.
