Cooler temperatures, in combination with the recent rainfall and positive cooperation by Haltons residents and businesses, have helped replenish and maintain water reservoir levels. Residents and businesses are still encouraged to use water wisely by voluntarily limiting outdoor water use to odd/even days based on ones municipal address. All activi- ties were well attended. But it seems the plea for more volunteers to help keep all these activities going fell on deaf ears. It netted only two volunteers to help out with bingo. We need many more than that. Please offer a little of your time to help keep our Centre running well. The October luncheon will be held on Thursday, October 18. You will note that is the third Thursday of October. There will also be a change, in as much as you are now required to purchase your lunch ticket when you sign up at reception. The menu is attached to the sign up sheet and it looks delicious. Another note and reminder that you are required to be a paid-up member to take part in any of the non-instructed programs at the Centre. This includes card games, drama, crafts, shuffle board, carpet bowling, mingle and chat. Please sign the attendance book as you come in even if it is only for a coffee. This information is needed for the records of the Centre. Some more items to mark or your calendar. One is the Fall Art Workshop to be held on Friday, October 19, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The cost is $25 per person. On Saturday, Nov. 4, a workshop in Christmas Watercolour Cards will take place 9 a.m to 4 p.m. It also costs $25 per person. You will leave the workshop with a variety of finished product that you can use for your personal Christmas wishes. Viewing will take place 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Show- time is 2 p.m. Flu shots will be available, free of charge, on Tuesday, on October 23 beginning at 9:30 a.m. You will want to come early while the needles are still sharp. (Joke) Come on out to the Centre. Join in the fun! Volunteer, get involved! Make new friends! Did call for seniors centre volunteers fall on deaf ears? FLORENCE RIEHL Georgetown Seniors Centre
