He said the top three issues raised were the elec- toral reform referendum, Liberal leader Dalton McGuintys broken promises and PC leader John Torys proposal for faith-based funding. That controversial proposal, Arnott said was mis- characterized by the Liberal Party and Working Families Coalition in television ads throughout the campaign. Unfortunately, we did not effectively respond to them as a party, said Arnott, who also criticized the Toronto media for not fully covering many of the elec- tion issues raised by party leaders. Arnott was disappointed Tory did not win his seat in the Don Valley West riding losing to incum- bent Liberal education minister Kathleen Wynne. I support John Torys leadership. I hope we can continue to have his services as a leader within the legislature in whatever capacity we can, said Arnott, when asked to comment about Torys intention to stay on as PC leader. Healthcare is a key issue he plans to tackle as he heads back to Queens Park. He said he intends to immediately address the fact the Ministry of Health has dragged its heels in approving much-need- ed CT scanners at the Georgetown and Fergus Hospitals. We also have a severe doctor shortage in the province of Ontario, said Arnott. Liberal candidate Bentley, who watched election results with about 25 supporters at the Lions Hall in Georgetown, said she was disappointed with the outcome of the local race, but appreciative of all the efforts of her campaign workers.
