Ten-year-old Bethany Rees deliv- ered a personal-best performance by finishing eighth in a flight of 15 skaters in the juvenile category at the recent Hamilton Fall Festival and also posted a top-10 result at the Summer Sizzle event at the Research In Motion facility in Waterloo. Rees will also skate in the Central Ontario Section competition next month in Midland. Another GSC member, 11-year-old Madeleine Commisso, also skated at the Hamilton Fall Festival, placing 12th in the juvenile division. She also competed at Barrie Oktoberfest last weekend. As well, retired local club member Laura Malatesta has made the cut for the University of Western Ontarios varsity skating team in two disciplines, Senior Silver Freeskate and Senior Silver Freeskate Similar Pairs. The 18- year-old first-year law student will make her CIS debut Nov. 30 at Montreals McGill University. The Georgetown club is celebrating its 50th anniversary as a member of Skate Canada and among the many events scheduled are the annual Skate- a-Thon on Nov. 10.
