(Daily) November 15, 2007 to April 15, 2008 On all streets under the jurisdiction of the Town of Halton Hills, unless authorized signs indicating otherwise are specifically posted. Motorists are reminded that By-law No. 84-1 also prohibits the parking of a vehicle on all Town or Regional Roads for longer than 3 consecutive hours at any single location, unless otherwise specifically posted. On-street parking hinders snow clearing and other road maintenance operations. Your co-operation is requested. Please comply with the requirements of this By-law. AUTHORITIES MAY HAVE VEHICLES TICKETED OR TOWED AWAY AT THE OWNERS EXPENSE. Motorists should note that Town By-Law Enforcement Officers will be on patrol through the duration of the parking restriction period and will ticket and/or have the offending vehicle removed. Enforcement officers will not enforce parking on sidewalks between 2:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. where the Town does not clear the sidewalks. SNOW REMOVAL The placing or pushing of snow or ice onto roadways or cleared sidewalks will obstruct or encumber vehicular and pedestrian traffic. Do not push snow across roadways because the trail of snow does turn to ice. The Towns Obstruction, Encumbering or Fouling of Highways By-law No. 90-68 prohibits such action. Improper snow and ice clearing can be a serious hazard to motorists and pedestrians. Your co-operation is requested. Please comply with the requirements of this By-law. The winter season will soon be upon us. Be alert for snow plows and stay back at least 15 meters behind snow plow trucks. Please avoid parking on streets during snowstorms to assist Public Works operations staff with providing safe, passable roads. AUTHORITIES MAY HAVE SNOW AND ICE REMOVED AT THE PROPERTY OWNERS EXPENSE. Chris Mills, P. Bryan Flikkema will be selling back issues of maga- zines such as The Saturday Evening Post, Life, Colliers and Star Weekly from the 1940s to the 1960s in the mall Monday (Nov. 26) through Saturday (Dec. 1) from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Flikkema says people can buy the mint-condition magazines for family and friends from the week they were born and they make great Christmas and birthday gifts. Regional Chairman Gary Carr and the four local mayors are once again breaking out their pens to write to the Premier, this time urging him to address the needs of municipalities in his upcoming throne speech. A motion directing the correspondence was passed by regional council at its meeting Wednesday. The resolution ties in with the Regions Fairness for Halton campaign, which started earlier this year to let the Ontario government know the region cant accommodate the thousands of resi- dents called for in the Provinces Places to Grow plan with- out some significant funding for things like infrastructure. In addition to the letter, the Region will also be: Asking the local municipalities to participate in a co- ordinated communication strategy that focuses on the provincial requirement to fulfill the local and regional needs set out in the Fairness campaign Advising the provincial ministers of public infrastruc- ture renewal and finance that they wish to meet to discuss the Fairness campaign as part of the 2008 provincial pre- budget consultations Working with local municipal staff to develop and co- ordinate a common communications plan to be included in the next municipal tax bill Organizing a GTA/Hamilton summit with local munic- ipal partners to develop a common strategy to assist in attracting both federal and provincial funds for municipal infrastructure and to discuss a new deal for municipal financing.
