chosen and developed by a group of five women a housewife from Egypt a social worker from Guyana a teacher from India and a church worker from the and from the United States The cooperative measure for amalgamated prayer first flowered in the year 1918 from a movement known as the Women Missionary Societies in Canada and was founded by ten women from five different denominations who met together discuss lie possibility of cooperation among women missionary boards in spreading Christian understanding through prayer and action With a purpose of providing ecumenical experience for all women through worship fellowship and work the Women InterChurch Council of Canada is attempting to encourage the establishment of additional InterChurch councils or committees and to encourage cooperative work among churches and with the offerings it receives from the World Day of Prayer it distributes Order of Service pamphlets for adult women girls and children which have been printed in Braille French Chinese Japanese and English and further supports the preparation and distribution of large quantities of Christian literature in Canada and abroad It has represented in many wellarc and christian organizitions including the India and Eskimo Association of Canada Committee on Aging of the Ontario Welfare Council and several others The history of this tremendous world wide celebration
