Home and School fashion show in for spring PETTY and Chad Crooks show what young ladies and young gentlemen will bo wearing this stylish spring Staff Photo News and views liv 10RKAIM- Despite the fact that mod lingo experts tell us Hut way out has faded and that what in is out fashions will always have to be described just that way and what s in this spring season is still to a great extent mini skirts or ones well above the knees down to just touching depending on the tastes of milady At the Home and School Fashion Show last Wednesday evening held at the Centennial School the Walker fashion commentator Miss Jo Ann Watkins seemed to feci that summer skirts would stay short for tins year and that the straight lined shift dresses scarves decorator chain and linked belts would brighten the scene with the newly introduced long length midi outfit not quite making it Many of the clothes shown were in soft pastel with lime greens and flattering pinks highlighting the color scheme along with deep navy relieved by white and red touches Jump suits with dresses for the very young poncho tops with matching slacks for casual wear and graduation wedding ensembles and special occasion costumes were shown also stressing the simple line Probably because of the previous Thursday evening cancellation due to inclement weather the audience attending the Fashion Show was not a capacity crowd however approximately 125 ladies were on hand to view the new creations with many of them showing interest as to cost of particular items with an eye to decreasing family budgets but increasing masculine eye appeal L011I and Mills ladies modelled the various knitted suits and garments which to a great extent were more woman on the street than too exclusive and highly fashioned Little Mills along with other Indies of the Home and School Association Spring is here and it that time again Time to wipe out the cobwebs from the attie gloom time to clean our cupboards and turn out excess equipment and time to condition ourselves for a brand new season of activities it s house cleaning time Would it not laps be also a time to apply the same method of good family organization To ourselves as people cleaning out the dusty comers of mental processes tossing away the dogmas and trivialities and instead attacking our challenges with on air of positive Dunking assured that anything can be accomplished or overcome with the application of enough faith and willpower Probably one of the biggest reason why people are so nonplussed by the complexities of ordinary living is that they are more over whelmed by the publicity than by the actuality they then apply what they have learned second hand to their own areas of living and rather than attempting to work out as they find them they give up and think what s the use the whole world is This could be true who can deny that just existing today is not more involved than what history books relate regarding life during the last few hundred years and even from what many of us can remember of our own childhood ones It would sec m though that many outside concerns liave always been there but we simply did not have as much access to knowledge of it and 111 our ignorance or because of it we didn let it affect our attitudes or curtail our small contributions to daily living in our own neighborhood Technological advances have been proved as terrific steps rorward but wc must accept them as advances not as detriments Television has given us new knowledges at advances of speed but this does not mean tliat must delete the adage charity begins at home We could also remember the tritely that a chain is only as strong as its weakest link and if we arc responsible for loosening that link because of worrying too much about what s at the other end we will never do anything v ell or accomplish what the chain has been set for 11 of us have responsibilities to each other No matter how heavy our own problems we should still at least attempt to extend our neck muscles and focus our to see what is happening round us and consider ways to assist Wc arc our brother s keeper and we have been told to love one another and if this is pure corn to some people it docsn have to be to ui all If we can feel gracious enough to extend such affection to our fellow man we arc certain to help with problems not just talk about them We wdt reach out to not to merely interfere We will lend an car as a sounding board not as a tunnel through one to the other wdl physicall condition ourselves to unpoliute our environment laminating our own minds against others burying the debris of gossip and and in doing so helping the link in which we luc become stronger and lubricated with the of human kindnesses and as each link is strengthened maybe it wdl be able to reach greater distances and accomplish better things without the home links being corroded with distrust and pettiness The world was made for us and it s our job to keep it swept and tidy free of contamination but sparkling with the polish of CHARLIE was the recipient of a trophy from his coach Ross at Saturday Legion minor hockey banquet in Acton
