pretty well con eluded minor for the 1970 Eramosa township series and a great deal of the credit for its success Is due to the consistent effort and abilities of George Smith of 3 who headed up the league and arranged its schedules and team organization Last Sunday September was a fundraising day for the Association and four games were lined up for a program which ranged from the sublime to the ridiculous and everyone in eluding the spectators had a hilarious time Coaches vs fathers The first game between the coaches of Minor Ball teams and the fathers of the players was a hands down one for the fathers who toppled the coaches This was understandable of course because of all the minor soft ball coaches who worked hard during the season only two had had any previous ball playing experience whereas the athletic fathers were already playing on their own senior teams or else had some experience So It hats off to the losers for their keen competitive spirit during the season and for at tempting to keep the kids oc cupied in worthwhile competitions Great watching The second game was a tie up for the Glen Williams the grand champs of the Ontario Rural Softball Association and Paul Woddell County Champs and It made for great watching Young Freddie Nightingale was the Jocular coach who kept the spectators In stitches as the mothers were run ragged playing against the senior girls Twenty four mothers were on hand to participate in the razzle dazzle affair and at one time the field sported three per each position and the Rockwood girls still came up with the top score win The final game was a win for when the Eramosa Volunteer firefighters polished off the Volunteer brigade and Chick Milne was on the mound for the team backed by many top senior layers and past players who had up their baseball shoes some time before Last Sundays sports finally was a wind up for the summer schedule Minor Softball and parents and friends were ched in the bleachers with blankets and hot coffeea at tempting to keep warm while viewing the performances Team against team with batteries being changed to even the scores the Grant land allowance at new fire hall site YELLOW AND WHITE glads
