suggestions if i project wis deemed necessary The 18 Authorities in the province h requested grants totalling million but the department has approved only million of the amount so far OUR READERS WRITE Worried about pollution Native of Acton deputy minister May 1971 Box 1064 Acton Dear Sirs It is not too often I write a letter to newspapers so my sense of wording might not be in proper order However I have been reading hearing and seeing pollution as it slowly creeps upon us The other day I went for a ride through our country side and the lack of respect shown to private and public property is a disgrace to mankind I saw beer cartons garbage parts of machines etc on the roadside in streams etc I only wish 1 had a truck with me order to clean up the mess Yet mankind itself is hollering for something to bt done complaining to the government to get busy We grown should re that we ire somewhat like children ourselves If we re out in a car and I have seen it happen out their window goes empty bottles packages etc the same tiling we would forbid our children to do How in the children to do right if we don our own example Yet a lot of don realize that mankind itself is responsible for pollution itself We are putting in danger by ignoring the pie is from our government tb help stump out pollution Our government can only do so mud but they need our help Wi tend to about our government way loo much We should realize that they are only a small part of our world who we put in to guide and lead us And they have constant reminded us through the medium of radio I V newspaper etc The rest is up to us Here ire a few things that one hears in answer to the plea for help 1 should I over it 111 be dead and gone before that happens so let others worry over it I to t Yes we might be deid and buried by then But is this a reason to let pollution get out of hand What of the future generation of our children Cm or will they exist if pollution gets out of hind This is a fine legacy to leave behind it their own parents didn t care enough 2 Hetk there no need for me to get involved they probably have too much help as it is say what if each and every person thought this way With each person thinking this there in fact small groups such as schools clubs etc actually helping most of all it like the old saying oh that will never happen to us And after all it s really not all that bad or the government would step in To this kind of ignorance I say yes it is that bad and will get worse if we don t stop it now There s pollution in the air we breath our lands and rivers etc How cm we be so stupid not to see it Wc can go on being like an ostrich and hide our head in the sand thinking the danger will pass We to face the fact it is there and only we in make amends We the people are so selfish ind unconcerned just waiting for others to do our work for us Why should we cm if our future generation survives or not Well I can about the future of children their offspring I would like to think they will see a cleaner world due to the efforts of their forefathers So think about it when go to toss away garbage etc are proper disposal units along the roadiadts on our street corners etc They are put there for our use so let use them before it too late stop putting off tomorrow what we should do today and realize the danger we are putting ourselves into stamp out pollution now not lOyeirs from now Thank you for reading my letter A Worried Mother Mrs MILL ST An irtiele in the for i threeye It iffit ifety bulletin of Acton Bora in Acton is Deputy
