parking in the parking lot anymore and for that matter there Is no parking lot expanding Acton High School has filt a need for more room and In tht southwest end of the school tin Construction has started work on our now addition This addition will consist of a square foot rt source centre a square foot work study room ana an square fool general office Large tunnels To this project tht work men hod to rip up two layers of asphalt One of the men mentioned that the second layer was probably put an because the first layer was crooked The large tunnels that students Wive been wondering about are there to get steady bearing or the footings try one is waiting anxiously for Its completion since it will be treat benefit to our school PC wins On rhiirwiny October in accordance with the provincial election Acton High held its own election sponsored by the grade 1- world politics class There were four polling stations and per cent of the school voted The results Acton High were the Progressive Conservative first followed the New Democrat Part and then the liberal Party trailing badly See semester Thursday three students and three teachers from Centennial C I in came to our school The purpose of their visit was to observe our especially the onehour periods They talked to a number of students and teachers and were fairly unpressed with our system They think it great for Acton High and icons to be beneficial Trip to Quebec flic students of grade history and geography classes are planning a trip to Quebec from November to November fhis trip has to do with the Canadian history and geography that these students arc taking course is a regional study of Canada which also includes the trench I Canadian problem In order to finance this trip the students have started a few fund raising campaigns which Included a sale last and a car wash on Saturday for baking bake sale was quite a success since they sold everything and made about A preliminary car wash was held on for the teachers who t come on Saturday About ten students participated In the car wash and other fund raising campaigns will start before the students leave for Quebec Tour centre On Wednesday October the grade 12 environmental science students and the grade biology students accompanied by P W went to the Ontario Science Centre rhe grade 12 students had a chemistry demonstration scheduled in the morning but due to technical difficulties it was cancelled At they were treated to an Interesting evolution film in the lecture halls As for the biology students they learned how to take their own hemoglobin counts and type their own blood It was very comical to watch the reactions of the students as they had to puncture their skin to get blood samples After lunch the grade 13 class had a very Informative lecture on genetic mutations The students found it quite amazing how such microscopic organisms as genes can alter fatally the charac teristics of human life All in all it was an
