defeated Last week Mrs J Morgan and Mrs K Ellis went to Sheridan College They visited the resource centre there and saw the reading program which Sheridan has for its students This program enables them to improve reading and English skills These teachers gained new information and ideas to adapt to Acton High The annual meeting of school counsellors and university ad missions personnel met at the University of last week These people are invited to the conference to discuss Issues of mutual concern A more complete article will be sub mitted by Mr B Skerrett who attended the meeting Seven students and three school board members met last Tuesday to discuss Acton High and the school system Both sides were confronted with questions and were answered in the best possible way Each group Centre on April 1972 The president Cathy opened the meeting with the pledge Twenty six members answered the roll call with the breed of their project calf Several members led discussion groups on a Keith Black showed slides of their trips to Africa and Japan respectively Mr Ellis opened the assembly with slides mainly of East Africa especially Uganda He had pictures of African animals such as the Uganda a type of deer water buffaloes giraffes the Thompson a gazelle the gnu and Grant s gazelle besides slides of the landscape and people Mr Black showed slides of a Ship Japan which featured Expo The shrines and temples photographed showed quite different type of architecture and the large tea farms looked like stereotyped Japanese landscape Both commentaries for this assembly were Interesting and informative Collect nine tons of scrap paper Knox church Young People group collected paper Saturday throughout town and ended up with over nine tons The paper was trucked to sold Own on Sunday This Sunday afternoon Guides and Brownies are holding a Guides Own for the first time here This Is the some type of church service as at camp with the girls conducting all the service themselves After a small parade at 1 30 p the Guides Own will take place in the park Anyone is welcome to come and watch the service candidates for confirmation This Sunday Is confirmation at St
