Building on Saturday After the ceremony a handful of guests marked the spot where the plaque will permanently stand in the west part of the county property Pictured with the plaque are Reeve Allan rocky square mile of land west Milton became the centre of an Intensive police manhunt Monday tor the alleged killer of a young Burling ton woman and her 10rtionthold son The accused Is alleged to have broken Into the home of Mr and Mrs Severlna DeCecca of Mountainside Dr In Burlington early Saturday morning He Is said to have strangled 19yearold and to have killed her infant son On Sunday afternoon police received on anonymous Up from a person who reported seeing someone resembling the suspect In the Rattlesnake Point Pork area on Appleby Line An OPP plane which was clocking speeders on the Queen Elizabeth Way was called In Burlington Police and searched the area but the suspect was not sighted Anonymous call The anonymous caller may or may not have spotted the man for on Monday a fullscale manhunt developed In the piece or land bordered by SIderoad Bell School Line and in North Burlington Monday manhunt began when George Newell of arrived home at a little after 12 noon A maintenance supervisor at a local factory he likes to eat lunch at his own residence No one was supposed to be at home at the time but he heard footsteps in the upper part of the house and the slamming of a door I suppose he exited out one door as I came In the other door Newell observed From what I can tell all food Newell contacted Burlington Police and the department ac ting on the hunch the Intruder was the alleged killer of Mrs started a coordinated manhunt Within a short time the combined force had the area of SIderoad Bell School Line Tremaine Rd and 14 SIderoad completely surrounded Plane dog An OPP plane combed the square of land almost continuously from shortly after the search began until about S pm leaving the area only to refuel Burlington Police and members of OPP detachments as far west as Brantford and as far south as Slmcoe joined in the search Tuesday morning Inspector Moore said the suspect was still at large He said a perimeter surveillance would be kept on the area On Tuesday officials of Joseph Brant Hospital in Burlington reported that Mr DiCecca was in satisfactory He had been taken there after the shooting The suspect Is a 19yearold neighbor of the family He is described as six feet one inch tall with long curly brown hair and brown eyes He weighs about 230 lbs As of press tune he has not been apprehended Memories of a young establishment event were representatives of Halton s seven municipalities County Councillors and officials from various County departments two P P s Jim Snow and George Kerr and the riding s representative In Ottawa Whiting were also on hand Purpose of the plaque is to preserve the name of Halton for all time even though the political future of the county may be altered with the implementation of regional government some time in the future Saturday ceremony took in the hallway of the second oor of the Administration building The event had been scheduled tor outdoors but the day dully weather prompted county officials to move it Inside Official unveiling of the plaque was performed by Warden James The Warden said he was happy to be associated with the unveiling and he also paid tribute to Milton resident GF Thompson His Idea Mr Thompson a local historian and retired director of the Children Aid Society was the behind the idea of the plaque Thompson suggested the creation of a plaque in a letter to County Council last year Mr Thompson had obtained information from the Depart ment of Public Records and Archives on the origin of Halton then suggested the county erect a plaque to
