Halton Warden ByDavePtak Acton 1973 council will evaluate the towns first Christmas bus service in committee session January The bus system was provided by Tyler Transport at the expense of the town It was aimed to bring Acton shoppers Into the downtown area during shopping days between December 13 and Bus driver Ken Budd using a tally sheet counted passengers throughout the day service Route one the area encompassing Glenlea sub division and the eastern section of town was the most popular of the three bus routes averaging 149 passengers a day Route three consisting of Main St the western section of town and subdivision averaged passengers a day The bus was most used December and the Thursday and Friday before Christmas with passenger counts well above the SOD mark Saturday totals fell into the mid Ted Tyler spokesman for Tyler Transport pointed out that the bus service accomplished more than it set out to do Statistics kept while the bus was in operation indicate that large number of people used the bus to cross town as well as get to the downtown shopping area Mr Tyler said he thought the bus service was a good deal for the people adding that he was looking at It from a self
