All roads lead to Acton for Fall Fair this weekend Acton Fair will be officially opened this weekend by Doug Palmer president of the Canadian National Exhibition and past president of the Ontario Association of Agricultural Societies President and directors have been busy for the past 12 months preparing for this year two day event which is kicked Friday night at the arena performance Well known entertainer will be MC for a program of professional entertainment featuring an accordionist magician acrobats juggler dance team ana musicians The evening will be capped with the crowning of Miss Acton Fair 1973 by Miss Valerie Mitchell Miss Acton Fair of President H Hinton will welcome the crowd at the Friday night performance which will be preceded by a parade and concert by Acton Citizens Band fresh from their first place win at the Canadian National Exhibition Of course the hall exhibits the midway and concessions will all be open Friday night as well Saturday Is the big day starts off with a big parade at noon featuring five bands including Acton Citizens Band Knights and the Burlington Teen Tour Band all large groups and the committee has now received confirmation from the Sandhill Pipe Band and the Georgetown Girls Pipe Band that they will participate as well as the Georgetown Air Cadets Float entries have been pouring In this week and there II be lots of horses in the procession which la assembling at the high school grounds rather than at the CN station which has been completely tom down Three trail riding clubs are taking part and there is also a six horse hitch in the parade The parade will proceed down Mill Street to the park grounds and It Is quite likely the Old Time Fiddlers Contest will be going full tilt In the arena before the tall end of the parade reaches the fair grounds The old time fiddlers committee of R Davidson Bill and Ed Watson arc making a special effort to make this year competition one of the ever so it has been to the arena bo weather won t interfere It is open only to fiddlers from and Erin and townships and there Is no entry fee First prize Is and the H trophy second prize is third fourth and fifth The baby show teresting especially the school children work and homecrafts The baked and canned products never fall to make mouths water The Junior Farmers and clubs take a very active part in the Acton Fair and
