said Ross Adviser at Sheridan In view of two similar re ports prepared on and 1972 the report reflects a consistent trend In providing more joboriented programs of study at the college and a decrease the percentage of students con Incur education else where after graduation The data contained in report reveal that students arc fairly sure of which career path they wish to follow on a short term but ire uncertain as to their Many students at University Renaissance founder will sue board ministry for tuition fees In a speech Saturday to the Annual Congress of the Ontario Alliance of Christian the Ontario Ministry of for the costs of educating my children In private schools committed to the principles of Christian morality which the Ontario Education Act requires the public schools system to provide but which In fact ore essentially rejected and or ridiculed in the public school system The Milton evangelist told the Congress of having been shaken out of parental com a year earlier by Incidents In the high school his daughters were attending In his home region which in his view were symptomatic of a much deep er sickness pervading the public educational system That sickness Campbell claimed is the domination of the public educational tern by the new state rell of secular materialism which in its atheistic assump lions and its moral relativism is hostile to the JudaeoChrls principles on which the Institutions of our free society are built As a follower of sua Christ I believe in Tendering unto the things that are and unto God the things that arc Gods which education they prefer for their children Out of tax re- collected by the government for public tfon a voucher covering the basic costs for the education of each child would be provid ed to parents with which they could buy the education they prefer for their children In such a system the curricula guidelines but not the approach would be Wished by the Ministry of Education This competitive system would best serve a pluralistic society resulting in an Improved educational at a substantially cost to the tax payer I only one of hundreds of thousands of parents in Ontario Campbell claimed whose religious or phical views are such that we can never be satisfactorily served by the present mono lithic educational system with its basic commitment to secular humanism There must be alternate schools provided in public education including the extension of Catholic educational rights through grade and the right of nonCatholics to send their children and direct their taxes to the Catholic schools Christian school The Campbells who re moved their three younger children in elementary school from the public system and enrolled them In a Christian school in area last fall pointed out that they had made that change primarily on educational and not grounds The Christian philosophy of education is just superior academically to the secular approach says Campbell This is just sound tradition education It is costing the Campbells per child per year to send them there which is not much more than onethird the estimated cost per child in the public system The Campbell distur banco with the high school prognm deepened through out this year until finally being shocked by recent revelations of the gross viola of the requirements of the Education Act in re gards especially to the family life courses the Campbells offered their teenage daugh tcrs a Christian high school alternative just before East or to which they responded That means tuition costs of about per year per student which Is less than half estimated costs for educating students in the public high schools Altogether were paying over per now to educate our children In pri vate schools while we con to subsidize by our taxes the public educational system whose product we cannot conscientiously use says Campbell but In their efforts to sec manges effected in the public school system this year through
