Sees perfect project on Bangladesh tour Just back from Bangladesh Ontario director Catherine Harvey enthralled a group of over in the library Monday with her description of near Oxfam project She gone to India for a seminar and from there went to see the protect she had heard about in Bangladesh the Oxfam sponsored Bangladesh Rural Action Committee Here in the rural villages of this fertile land which some would despair of helping she found a project that embodies the kind of development that has highest hopes for She was happily amazed Slides She showed slides as she showed the Rural Action organizers and their paid workers in each village such as the planning an older woman eager to tell others not to make the same mistakes she did The func tlonal education teacher a teenager who got the village women so excited they doubled their number of classes The village healer and then the paramedics who learn how to treat diseases Just one at a time and tour the villages of the area The village animator who sets up programs such as the women duck raising and vegetable cooperatives The women would be too timid to start such a project alone All are Bengalis This project covers 220 villages of between and people each with camps for training of more and more native workers This project seems a fine chance of creating a self sufficient economy not simply dependent on one crop which can be flooded out Need press Money will be raised for a printing press for this Rural Action Committee Many Bengalis hat learned to read and a newspaper is being produced Acton president Daphne
