Phys ed teacher to head up new Y program The Free Press Wed April 30 1V75 3 Members of the Acton Board got a real shot In the arm at their last meeting held at the meeting room on Wednesday evening April Treasurer David Hunter Informed the group that for the first time in years there was enough money in the treasury to pay outstanding bills and have money in the bank for future programs They feel that this years has been largely due to volunteer assistance and good management At the moment the Yoga take a break and young women basketball are still running or the fall the board is looking into a new and interesting series which will hopefully get all age groups of the Acton community participating Board member Art rinlcy a physlcol education teacher in Brampton now living in Acton has volunteered to be in charge of programs Board chairman Helen Van feels that will fall projections great things should percolate Members c leanup Lately board members themselves have been doing Sunday clean ups attempting to keep the building in for weekly classes The chairman feels that as classes progress the board will be unable to continue maintenance duty Hope is that with more fees coming into the janitor service could be considered At the Wednesday meeting new members of the board were taken on a tour of the building Although major renovations are not planned for the Immediate future 151 registrations for kindergarten Kindergarten registration is run nine similar to this years total number of students in students have registered so far This is compared with at the same time last meetings and report back group findings Members discussed a program of games for child ren which is sponsored by the United Church youth group using facilities They were also informed that to date no word has been received from Haiton Hills lawyer Ray Steele regarding a proposal made when he attended a March IS meeting with the Acton board Mr Steele was instructed at that time to request Haiton Coxe In a recent attack by Councillor on the recreation department alleged delay in repairing a furnace and cleaning up flooding conditions at Hornby hall Recreation Director said the recreation department and the works department been cooperating He said no formal divlsnn of responsibility had been established He the caretaker at Hornby hall discovered the town answering service For Home trying to cause trouble for the staff He has people getting on his back the same as we have said Booth and I sympathize with him He said it was a fact the euchre was held for three weeks without heat Booth said was aware of the problems of the recreation department due to lack of staff nut insisted the facilities must be maintained as well as town s Morrow said if the works department cannot maintain them they should let council know Councillor Duby defended Coxe statements saying he had a right to ex press himself any way he wants Collison s report on the of responsibility between the
