happened last Friday when the Circus came to Speyside Public school The gymnasium walls were lined rows deep with an gcr throng of spectators from as well as about 50 adults and pre schoolers all primed to enjoy the events In store There was something very special about this particular Circus how ever You see the entire production was staged by the 34 Kindergarten children at with the aid of cos tumes and pantomime they went thru their paces bnl linntly and within minutes their entire audience had thier world of make be lieve After welcoming everyone and a song by the class led The Circus is Coming Ringmaster opened the show Three hilar ious clowns and a monkey set the mood for the show with their crazy antics and slap stick comedy Soon after came a bevy of performing animals and their trainers The elephants were splendid the lions growled furiously and the brown bears playfully slapped at the trainer whip The performing dogs endless ly bounced a hall until their trainer a happy little pint sized clown had to remind them to go on to other tricks The two trapeze artists were a delight beautifully at tired In their finery and swinging gracefully to and fro on the end of a long rope There were two tight rope walkers defying gravity atop a balance beam a dare devil motorcycle driver who put his machine through a rigorous course jugglers defllj manipulating two and three bean Creative Playground is in the news again On Monday evening five residents met Norm Howell and myself at the school and pot down to the nitty grit tie of planning such a project Different concepts were discussed utilizing the materials on hand and it was decided the first phase of the playground would include such things as a gigantic sand box a climbing apparatus made from the cable spools as well as one made from tires an old boat will be alop springs and a network of tunnels will be built using the sewer pipes donated to the project It became evident quite that the one type of material that ire most in need of this time is heavy timbers If there is anyone out there who can donate or knows where to get a hold of timbers or posts of varjing lengths approximately in we would certainly appreciate a call can call Norm Howell at or myself at We can arrange to pick up anything might hive if able to get it to the school on Dedicate furnishings on anniversary Sunday Mrs It Shortllt Mr
