1975 Forty Pages Fifteen Ct its New high school site approved property costing 6500 an acre Board of Education decided Thursday to proceed with the purchase of 25 acres of land for the new Acton high school which is slated to open in 1977 After hearing recommendations on three alternative sites from Bruce Superintendent of Business and Finance the Board decided to buy 25 acres of land on the west side of Churchill Road North across from the Acton Curling Club The property belonging to Alteo Construction is located on Lot Concession Four The Board is paying an acre for the 25 acre parcel of land so acquiring the site wilt cost over 000 said cost was the determining factor in the decision Two alternatives sites were both located on Highway east of Churchill Road one to the north of the highway and the other south of the road With the exception of the other two sites being close to Highway 7 there weren any advantages to picking them over the site I recommended The two Highway 7 sites cost from two to a half times greater than the one on Churchill Road North said He said water and sewer service is available for the new high school from Acton The new high school is being built with an initial capacity of to students in mind but provisions will be made to allow for future additions to the building The old high school will become a middle school housing grades six seven and
