Scout and Guide banquet saw many youngsters debut by Mark Howe Many young people had their stage debuts the evening of Tuesday February It was the annual Scout Guide and parent banquet at the new Legion hall and the groups were entertaining their parents the Beavers came on stage and sang a few delight ful tunes announced by ver Michael Hannah Then all three Brownie packs covered the stage and area in a sea of brown forms as they sang some cheerful songs Tht two Cub packs came on stage next and showed us what Cubbing was all about Skits next The two Guide companies entered and had a camp skit showing the girls working on badges The Scouts followed doing a bit of sleuth w5rk to find the missing Scouter Trie Venturers and Hangers found each other in their copro duced skit Finally the myths about the glory of being a Guide leader were quickly dispelled by the Guidcrs of the Acton district That ended a most delightful evening which had started at six Guests were treated to a delicious turkey dinner by the Scout and Guide mothers As plates were cleared away tnct commissioner Ewart and assistant Scout master Mark led everyone in a singsong Don McDonald then intro duced the head table of Scout and Guide Mothers Pre sident Barb Murehison dis commissioner and her daughter div ision commissioner Joy Coxe assistant district torn for Cubs Terry Coulter and for Scouts Murray Harrison and of course Don McDonald Barb Murehison followed this by presenting Canada Cord holders Judy Pink and Karen Vander with gifts Murray Harrison then had the duty of present ing J Saxon with the highest award in Canada the Chief Seouts award Barb Murehison also presented him with a gift Helpers in the kitchen Ihe Rotary Club and everyone who cooked the tur keys Barb Murehison and Lamarch also helped put entire event together PIECES OF RED ribbon will be souvenirs of Saturday s official opening of the scout hall addition and Mane Lamarche present pieces of ribbon to District
