Fair There was a very strong turnout of members Judges for the show were Bert Wheeler from Orion for the beef classes Floyd from New Dundee for the dairy classes and Keith Van Camp from Black stock for the sheep classes The program began at a with the sheep classes In showmanship Joseph Weeden was Champion Sheep Showman 2nd David Stanley Stanley Richard Stanley Scott Harris and Jamie In the Ewe Lamb Class David Stanley was 1st Scout and Guide news Mark The first weekend of Oct was really great and the Acton Scouts and Venturers took advantage of it The Acton Scouts held their annual Oktobcrfest camp last weekend on the sixth line A dozen Scouts under leaders Ford ton and Mark Howe took part in the event The camp was entirely planned b patrol leader John bit The two major projects of the week end wore an aerial runwiy over the pond and a catapult Both were well used and en joyed Olhei activities in eluded stalking trail signs semaphore survival and a tour or Blue Springs Scout Reserve The leading patrol of the weekend was that of Vves Antony Saxon John Sit Eric Edwin and Paul Carter The second patrol consisted of Jack Garton David Fuller Ricky Darren Blake Norton and Jim McVeigh It was deemed by all to be an excellent camp Many thanks to parents especially George Gorton for his help Venturers While the Scouts were getting ready for bed on day night the first Acton Olympics motorcycling gokarting canoeing scuba and catapult construction All this fitted in nicely Willi the theme of ihe camp which was Action Saturday night each group put up displays One of Actons projects the con of a gateway into their campsite In this column I have often Ihe attitude of towards our movements Now I must give praise where praise is due The Beavers and Wolf Cubs report an excellent turnout of parents Response is so good expansion is again under consideration The Scouts still require another leader but are working on some prospcctives This help is marvellous but please
