delegation opposes zoning land as hazardous plan another meeting Several concerned citizens of land designated hazardous land which could be affected by severe storms found a sympathetic ear with the Eramosa township council Monday evening concerning the proposed zoning of their land and will gather at another public meeting on the subject early in the new year The long awaited Restricted Area Zoning by law which had been worked on for three years by the Era Planning Board and council with input from Rock wood and Eden Mills re gulates the use of land within the township After the by law is passed no land shall be used and no building or structure shall be erected altered or used In any manner of this by law according to the general regulations of the by law as published in a summary It further stated standing the foregoing the by law shall not apply to hinder the continued use of any land building or Township of Eramosa zoning maps Dave Masson against Everton Inn owners Councillor David is a little more than wary of allowing the owners of the Everton Inn to continue on with work renovate the budding and turn il into a restaurant At Monday evening township council meeting Mr Masson charged the owners the Brothers of Ft to be not good corporate citizens He said he felt thiyway because last April Russell appeared before council and explained he would co operate with the council fully in he procedures and requirements needed to the land in question Mr Powadiuk at this time was surprised there was a by law forbidding anyone to live on the property and pro mised the tenant would be removed Mr said Soon after Mr again appeared before council and the same con versa look place The resident promised to do everything he could to cooperate with council and to remove the tenant from the property Mr Masson pointed out that a registered letter had been sent to the landowner requesting the tenant removal The township received no answer On July 28 the councillor pointed out another letter went out to Mr Powadiuk with the same request but Still no answer Council received a letter from A Hacker on behalf of Mr Powadiuk this week which w 12 written on October The letter explained that the tenant had moved out in the middle of September and the land owners were now awaiting the zoning amend ment Mr argued that it look too long lo rectify one particular situation they said would be taken care of as soon as possible Ik also was annoyed at the thai council had not had any acknowledgment of Ihcir two registered letters and look Mr Powadiuk two weeks after the tenant moved out notify council I just do not get the feeling ihey want to cooperate with us as a municipality We do not have the site plan control we want Mr stormed He said he did not know how the township was going be able to control the property If this is the way they are going lo operate I do not think we should accept their zone change Kill It Councillor said he was more forgiving lhan Mr he was willing to for give their inadequacies and okay the zone He asked Mr Masson if he wanted to post pone change or kill it altogether lo which Mr Masson replied Kill it for good Deputy Reeve Betty Clark interjected and said Ihe council had led these people on We have told them we would do something if they did something and Ihey have done it she reasoned Mr Hewitt fill to hold up Clark fell that could not put the parking it in until they got their zoning change Again Mr brought up the question of properly control Mr Hewitt ex claimed lhat the township has a by law enforcement the end Mrs Clark and Mr signed a to allow Ihe zoning change pro cedure lo continue while Mr officially rrnde it known he was against it lure which on the day of the passing of the by law was legally used or erected for any purpose prohibited by this by law so long It con tinues to be used for that pur pose The by law however will serve to prevent expon sion of any such use of land or a building or structure ex under certain condl tlons Permission must be acquired from the County Health Unit the Grand River Conservation Authority and the Eramosa township before any building can be put up after the by law is passed Group attends Some 20 people attended Monday s council meeting to have a voice on the matter Art Harris was appointed spokesman for the group He fell Ihere were errors in deletions A Ahmed project engineer for the Ministry of the Environment told township council Monday evening that at Ihe lime the sewers and waler contract was awarded lo Cons I ruction Ltd some the catering rather than township caterers All agreed with him After further discussion the council decided to hold Appreciation Night in the Eden Mills Community Hall the same place as last year and have a disc jockey rather than a band Mr Masson reluctantly volunteered to head the committee on the organizing He said he would took after the liquor and wine Deputy Reeve Betty Lou Clark volunteered
