of will have to pay to cover the cost of this system is The new communications system which will be In stalled In the Police Head quarters Building in and will include the latest design of automatic identifi cation and emergency equip ment is expected to be com pleted and in operation some time during the year The new communications system provides that each officer while on duty will be equipped with a portable radio which will enable him to be in constant contact In addition there will be a mobile radio in each police vehicle The radio will be equipped with five channels one for each District one Provincial channel and a simplex channel Each radio will be equipped with automatic Identification when activated The communications centre will be equipped with three consoles and four com plaint positions The equip ment Is designed so that one dispatcher can take over any or all channels should the necessity arise The com plainttakers equipment will be designed to listen and or talk on the radio channels or use the telephone by inter facing the radio system with the Bell system The radio consoles will also be equipped with automatic identification and emergency screens which will allow for constant vehicle status Hills will enter the federalmunicipal Assisted Home Ownership Program Central Mortgage and Housing Corporation in centive grant program It will bring into town coffers soon Planner Mario Venditti told Hills Planning Board on November that the guidelines for square footage was very close to the towns minimum stan dards so a lot of projects could qualify He do parking survey a The town has received a lot of help in studying parking in ward one from Acton High School pupils Assistant town planner Ron Burnett presented a parking analysis survey done by ur ban geography students at Acton High School to Hills planning board on Nov ember Burnett said he grade class had spent three days on the survey and had counted the number of cars on streets amount of time the same vehicle remained parked in the same spot and the number of spaces on a street He described the survey as very accurate The study results will be made public after council accepts it later this month Councillor Roy Booth said the town should send a letter to the class thanking them and suggested the town should be looking for more of this same kind of work from Georgetown High
