and Ann Carr have been responsible for teaching the 12 about good health good character child care and safety fire at home safety child behaviour first aid play activity and physically handicapped much effort into activities to make them enjoyable for everyone Host classes in some way are going lo con tribute something to the Christmas Assembly which will be held on the last day of school which is the of December Some classes have planned a party and perhaps a certain jolly fellow will be visiting our school The kindergartens finished on Monday eight successful days of activities with the aid of parent and student Many thanks are ex tended their way for the success of the programme M Z Bennett was very happy to hear we were the winners in the Santa Claus parade with the entry of our float A lot of work is going into the preparations for our Chr dinner to be held on Dec Parent conveners for the dinner preparations are Mrs MeKeown Mrs and Mrs Titon Decorations under the tions of Mrs Baker and her faithful workers are going lo be most effective Candlelight dining and music by Discus is being anticipated eagerly Approximately 170 guests are expected to come for Ihe evening dinner and dance On Friday students and parents were notified that after three and a half years as principal of M Z Bennett Mr Dawkins will be the principal of the new middle school This appointment will commence Feb 1st Our new principal will be Mr from Georgetown We extend our best wishes to both men in their new positions School holidays will begin on Wednesday at m and classes will begin in Robert Little News By Sharon Teacher pool almost drained Here at Robert Little we celebrated Christmas ith a successful Christmas concert held on Monday Dec Dec Last night a variety of songs skits and poems were pre sented lo an appreciative audience In the past weeks decorations were made and were displayed in the halls and classrooms The Christmas dance held last Friday got the intermediate students into the festive mood Last Monday the grade four students went lo Toronto to Ihe Museum lo see a man exhibit They on the lop floor of the Dominion Center and viewed the city After lunch they went window shopping Some of the children received candy canes The trip was enjoyed by all Inter House Competition The intermediate division is now playing scooter hockey As of Friday Dec 17 the standings are First Lions 1 points second Cheetahs 1049 points third points fourth Cougars points fifth Tigers points and sixth Panthers points The Crest Competition was completed First Cougars second Lions third Cheetahs fourth Jaquars Fifth Panthers and sixth Tigers The quality of the crests was exceptionally good and the judges were very pressed A special thanks should go to Mrs Holmes and Mrs Hurst who judged the Team Crest competition The Winter Carnival for Robert Little will be held on teb The entire school will be involved In games and various fun activities which will Like place at the arena and at Robert L Public The special pool of extra elementary teachers Board or Education found slef saddled with in her when enrolment fell well below projections has almost been drained When the crises hit last September board predicted Ihe teachers placed in the pool woould be back teaching classes full time by the end of 1976 In the meantime they serve as supply teachers It was thought vacancies could be found for the extra teachers who the board still had lo pay as full time teachers through resignations leaves of ab sence and maternity leaves Thursday Superintendent John Botch told the board only the equivalent to one and has been successful a half teachers were left in placing the extra teachers the pool He expects the of only half a teacher w ill still be in the pool when The Second Acton Guide Com pany hosted the festive event the Robert Little School Special guest was division commissioner Joy Cox Mrs Coxe had the honor of pre senting assistant district commissioner Beo Ginger with a thanks badge for ten years service District commissioner Dlan presented Ginger with her ten year pin As of this November Mrs Ginger has been In Scouting and Guiding for 15 years Mrs Ginger served as a Cub- master in Hamilton before moving to Acton where she become involved in Guiding Mrs Ginger now lives on Churchill Road Congratulations go to Bea Ginger for her lengthy devo tion to the movements The Santa Claus Par was a great success They were blessed with good turnout and wonderful weather The Brownies Beavers Cubs and Scouts were represented The Beavers float was chosen best in its class and a prize was awarded to them After the parade the Scout and Guide Mothers provided refreshments for children at the Scout Hall Many thanks to the Y Men for a job well done The
