and environmental planning the only witness produced by Hydro in the hearings said he believed the only study report on the alternative had been thrown out Hydro s lawyer Tom Marshall told the hearing that even if it existed he still wasnt going to pro duce the report on the grounds it isn relevant In fact Marshall said Hydro would produce no witnesses or documents relating to the alter native Leon the Windsor lawyer representing landowners from this area accused Hydro of conducting a cover up operation and stonewalling He also accused Hydro of avoiding the conse quences of the Court of Appeal decision Chairman Donald agreed He appealed to Hydro to provide the information Imagine having to appeal to Hydro to provide information to study alternatives the Supreme Court of Ontario has ruled are part and parcel of the Expropriation Act Obviously Ontario Hydro does not want people to know the truth of the matter since earlier Marshall admitted the Bruce to Essa power line alternative had never been seriously studied If there is no thing to hide Hydro shouldnt be worried about trotting any documents out for the inquiry to see It is the only way the inquiry can get at the truth of the reason why Ontario Hydro wants to avoid that sacred area of ground between Essa and Bruce As hearing Officer pointed out Hydro s refusal to call expert witnesses on the subject was going to make it impossible for the courts wishes to be carried out That is obviously what Hydro wants while they continue to steamroller their way through with a corridor that may cost millions of dollars more than it should It is time for the Ministry of Energy to step in and set matters straight instead of sitting in Toronto and issuing jubilant state ments about approvals for part of the corridor There are she came up with some old wives tale that you can t wear white to a wedding that reserved for the bride In addition the sun didn t shine for tanning and the diet seemed a dead loss Second week was a repeat But she did a panic trip to the city to buy material the sun shone for one day and she lost a pound and a half Third week The material she chose was raw Indian silk Great to work with Look at it sideways and it resembles a newspaper that been left out In the rain But the sun shone She stole a half hour a day from her 10hour sewing stint for sun bathing And suddenly the scales began to work instead of sticking as they had been for two weeks In the midst of it all so wound up about weddings are women she found time to dash out and buy me a pair of pants and a fine new white shirt I was going to wear my old gray flannels that I bought three years ago for and a clean golf shirt The pants are a bit lumpy around the pockets from carrying keys in change and golf balls and the shirt has a
