Our readers write Keep this fight clean Dear Madam Please read this letter carefully because shows some sort of expose A little while ago a call went out to all gun owners to join in the formation of a National Firearms Association Some goody flyer was issued listing all the advantages a sub scriber would get The establishment of a National tlon would create a body which would be useful as a tool of cooperation bet ween gun owners and governments and as such can only be welcome But why are people kind of bullied Into buying a magazine if they want to join the To the writer of this letter this looks like a tremendous con Job In which the An alltime low Dear Sirs Re Acton Free Press Feb Try a little harder and I am certain you can lower the quality of The Acton Free Press to an all time depth of poor taste and absurdity The drug stores closed early as did liter ally thousands of businesses across South era Ontario Only in Acton could this result in a separate article on the front page One person was inconvenienced WOW banner headlines But that is irre levant Still more irrelevant Is the fact that many people were Inconvenienced in many different ways Why not really plumb the depths and print all the stories of all the in Express thanks The Acton i ree Press Willow Street North Acton Ontario To the Editor though the year is already one month old the Acton Chamber of Com would like to extend its New Year greetings to the Acton Free press and its staff The Acton Free Press Is an integral part of Acton As a means of informing about local happenings be it a social event politics school or events or ng opportunities the t ret Press is not only essential but also very efficient Also is the way In which the Free Press keeps the public aware of the changes in Acton and makes possible an ongoing ex change of ideas as to what Acton can or should be in the future The Acton Chamber of Commerce would like to express its special thanks to the Free Press and its staff for the support and co- owner of the magazine Canada gets presented with millions worth of bus iness under the motto We fight for better gun lows Communication from head quarters to members does not need a magaUnewith shopping catalog and is in it self a moneymnking feature The usual manner using normal bulletins would do quite well Fighting for belter laws Is one thing and getting rich on It is quite a dif fcrent matter Let keep this clean Thanks for the time you took out to read my letter and I have no objection If you re print it under your column My opinion Yours truly Kurt Willi Krauss play I did not attend the Great Garbage Debate at Halton Region I have beard it all so many many times before I knew it would be just another selling Job for long and my time is valu able Williamson the Government canary for land filling the Dillon people who sold the people of Halton information at a handsome price Information our own could have provided as part of their normal duties pushed vigorously for Site Where were Lhe people who build per cent Resource Recovery Plants the plants named in my briefs to Region Do taxpayers spend time and money preparing briefs that are never read It was gratifying to find that Julian Reed had done his homework It was equally gratifying to find much of his presentation was gleaned from Information I had given to him The people of Site F and their sup porters should now prepare to repel the bulldozers They can expect little help from the new Minister of the Environment a former party hack and former mis man of the Niagara Escarpment Com mission need I say more Even If Mr the Minister had the best of Intentions he Is surrounded by the same old gang of advisors who condoned mercury lead and you name It other pollutants who condoned C B burning without prior or hearings not to mention long term landTilllng of garbage the same old gang who have ill advised the past ministers of the environment Here at Region there Is the chairman who as reeve of Georgetown made an Impassioned presentation to the B and earned a garbage dump within SO feet of the Credit River a site that gives railroad visitors to Georgetown a first and lasting impression and gave Georgetown the first regional dump Regional staff handling the solid waste problem have been hopelessly Inefficient They have not assembled the facts for councillors They have obviously not studied briefs submitted on this issue They have been over awed first by and now by Dillons To date the cost must be a quarter of a million dollars plus to the taxpayers land the legal proceedings haven t started yet Councillors with a few valiant exceptions could not care less where the garbage goes or processed They will vote to dump garbage anywhere but in their own area In my opinion the people of Site should like the people of Pickering solicit dignitaries and others to stop the dozers and when they do come They can put my name high on the list A good time to start such a list would be on March 3 March when people from Milton and district answer the bite appeal and take bundles of newspapers tc the Milton Mall Friday March 3 between p and and Saturday March from William A Johnson
