assist with residents at Countryside was made an in vitation was extended by WI to the Branch to be their guests at Hall on May 10 at which was accepted A supply of WI plates with the picture of the Erland Lee Home be purchased for members and others desiring them Some of the ladles agreed to act as hostesses in the new Womens Institute Hall at the Agricultural Museum at Milton for three days during July and August This build ing was the former Sheridan Church located at the south ern part of the county It has been relocated to the Museum grounds and restored and now Is a WI Halt Guests will be welcomed at it in the summer months A pair of blankets will be gives to a family in Acton who suffered loss by fire of tbeir home and contents April 22 The Branch will cater to it Suggestions for courses for Training Schools Pood Forums and Short Courses were discussed and members favored the Training School on Spotlight on Bread and Contemporary Tailoring as first and second choices respectively Cancer month being In April cancer kits were dis tributed by Mrs Smith to the canvassers of the district Mrs Armstrong and Mrs Frank displayed two beautiful quilts that some of the members had worked on and completed during the month Following the instruction on Needlepoint by Mrs Armstrong and Mrs Nellis the ladles attending brought their completed work to the meeting It was a fine showing of handwork and included cushion tops pin cushions pictures paneb bags etc Mrs A Diamond read from a brochure on Mental Health which told of the stress and strain under which some people ore living In under present day conditions How to show sympathy and under standing to help cope with some of the problems were named It was a very inter esting and timely subject Later she passed Mental Health bags around in sup port of the Association Mrs gave a report of the Visiting Com mittee Mrs Norton Mrs C Davidson and Mrs W Britton were the committee to supply the program and a good one it was Each lady had been given a printed questionnaire to fill In on her personal and life habits an answer to the mystery roll call Five runnersup were named and each was given a sock to darn during the program Later Mrs G Ironside acting as judge in a very pleasing humorous manner an nounced the verdict that Mrs D Hunter had been named Wife of the Year She was presented with a welldecor ated Irish hat and another gift Two very comical readings were given by Mrs C Mclntyre and Mrs Norton An amusing skit Here Comes Metric was well por trayed by Mrs A Near Mrs Hunter and Mrs Arm strong In costume It was revealed that per cent of the world population Is on metric system so no matter what our personal feelings are we will have to accept it on Its merits or demerits It was a night to see to hear to learn and to have fun and that the ladles did and thanks were expressed by Mrs J C Dennis to the Committee and to all who had a hand in making It such a memorable meeting A fine lunch was served by Mra Alder Mrs J Kranendonk Mrs McCarron and daughter Theresa and all enjoyed a visit over the teacups It was announced that a Dew Atlas of the County Is being compiled and will be printed at a later date A reunion of pupils of Dublin Public School will be the guests of their former teacher Mrs George Young Miss Wallace when she hosts a party for them at the Acton Curling Rink call and house calls A list of approaching birthdays was given Ethel Denny had charge of the devotions and the Easter theme was followed Prayer was given by Kae Helen Pickett read from Corinthians Chap Mrs Denny followed with an impressive Easter topic The quilting ladles Joined for the viewing very beautiful and interesting slides shown by the Rev Chuck Beaton of his three years ministry in Uranium City Eldorado uid Gunner Mines on Lake Beautiful scenery rewarding lines of large fish mining activities both underground and the surface were very enlightening The coming and going of planes dog teams and even the first snowmobile In the area were seen Mr Beaton and his family moved there in 1902 when the United church was Just 10 years old Already a fine church had been erected and furnished and a small manse provided With Mr Beaton humorous narrative one could almost feel the frosty air In winter the black flies In summer taste the fresh trout and the luscious blueberries and sense the wild life close by A social time and a tasty lunch followed Including a birthday cake in honor of the March birthday lady Nellie Shoemaker Next meeting will be April 11 when mem bers hope help to Senior Citizens The next meeting Is in the hands Mrs Margaret Aitkin and Mrs Sharon and they are hoping to have a guest present to talk on this subject It was decided to drop the Daffodil Tea
