Students entertained by Carousel Players The Acton Free Press Wednesday April 26 MZ Bennett news Letting their imaginations run wild approximately grade two pupils took pari In a theatre performance by the Carousel players Monday afternoon The students from Robert Little and Bennett filled the MZ Bennett gym where they were In groups which represented animals for the performance The scene opened in a for est where the children com through the sounds of bears birds seals woodland creatures and the inturder man The animals tame together to decide whether they could live with man and recall the episodes each has had with humans Legends such as How the Bear Lost its Tall How the Raccoon got Black Eyes How the Trees Lost Their Leaves and the Legend of the Totem Pole were all recreated by the actors with help from the children The five actors Christine Henderson Chick Mar Keith Kenneth McDon ald and Robert Wat are all employed from September to May by the Carousel Players Company The actors who work out of St Catharines are hired by the Board of Education and travel from school to school performing different plays for different age groups The Carousel Players have been an annual event for Acton schools usually per forming once a year in town TAKING PART in the Carousel Players performance at M Z Bennett school on Monday students built an imaginary igloo Close to 200 children from M Bennett Robert Little and attended the per formance by Victoria Last Thursday April 20 it was Open House at M Ben nett It turned out to be very successful and everyone enjoyed It A few of the held an open house yesterday Tuesday There were displays and activities for all interested guests On February the Junior mathematics contest was held This contest took place in all high schools across Canada with 1023 schools writing the test The team for Acton were Mike Donat Hogenblrk Cheryl Gloria Walton Vicki Bristow Paula pert Janice Thornhil Larry and Lynda On the honor roll in zone Mike placed eighth Martin and Prank Geng also made the roll The hole team did a great job and Acton placed third across Canada The dance last Friday was very well attended Everyone had a great time The
