Guide picnic is fun despite rain Even though Mother Nature worked against their plans nothing was dampened except the grass at the Guide picnic Monday evening Girls In the second Acton Guide company had planned a pot luck picnic supper at Prospect Park but the rain forced them to move the picnic Into Robert Little The sent invitations home to parents and brothers and sisters inviting them to the evening and requesting a certain dish from each family MEMBERS OF the Craig family help them selves to food at the second Acton Guides indoor picnic The picnic was originally to be held at the park but rain forced the group into the Robert Little gym St Josephs by Joanne Arthur and Jan sen On Monday June Separate School Board held a Professional Day While students were en Joying a nice day off school teachers were slaving away over hot desks writing achievement forms for the third term The final class mass for the grade seven and eight class will be held on June The grade five and six class are also having a mass This will be held on June and all parents of the parish are Invited The grade seven and eight class s now trying to arrange a few baseball games nsl the Holy Cross School In Georgetown Because Mr Lipp teaches there he is trying to arrange Mr also teaches the grade seven and eight class in the after noon here at St Joseph All the classes In the school are now starting to work on fall fair entries We are hoping to have some good entries since this is our first year competing Next year ndergartcn students are coming to St Joseph June to spend a day with our kindergarten class We hope they will enjoy their visit In the recent Track and Field Competlt on the results were very good Relay teams are as follows the tyke girls shuttle placed fourth They arc Rose Mercuri Nancy Vender Eyken Liz and Belinda the tyke boys 100m relay also placed fourth They are Chris Munkacsi Brian and James the atom girls shuttle placed second They are Honor Helen Alice and Susie Mac Donald he atom boys loom relay placed third They are John Pacheco Chris Munkacsi Ronny Van Rem and Jamie The atom girls relay also placed third They arc Susie Lid bury Rhonda Barret Nancy and Cora Buna the bantam divisions did not have a relay team because there weren t enough students the midget girls 1 relay placed third They ore Andrea Brozlc Allison Carol Chaisson and Vera Vanltcm the midget boys loom relay placed second They are Richard Chin Prank Andrew Roach and Carlo Mercuri the individual compe titions on June 5 everyone did well The best result came from Shaun Taras who won first place In tykes high jump He set the new Hal Ion Separate School record jumping 3 metres or four feet five inches Congratulations to Shaun Congratulations go out to all participants for their effort and sportsmanship and thanks to Mr McGeragle Mrs and Mr Lipp The kindergartens are going to the Farm and Park Recreation to see the farm animals and the greenhouse This will be on Monday June youth to overtake two vehicles on Highway resulted in a three car accident Wednes day June 7 Brian Bell of R 3 Milton was travelling north In the southbound lane of Highway 25 to overtake two vehicles
