OUR READERS WRITE Share what God has done SHARING with Nancy Gordon Dear God Do You remember that sunny Saturday afternoon Labor Day weekend 1963 when Mom and I were going shopping That accident left me unconscious for three days I don think I thanked You for taking control of the events that day and giving me my life and the use of both legs I thank You now with all my heart Mom told me that after stopping at the intersection then making a left hand turn our car was struck on the driver side end pushed one hundred fifty feet down the street Which left me with various cuts and bruises and a shattered left femur and this necessitated being put in traction Because my body chemistry Is such that It rejects foreign objects the doctors place a pin in my femur If the leg heal traction it would have to be either shortened or amputated At the time I was in such pain and was so weak that I grasp the severity of my condition The fourth day of my stay In the Guelph General Hospital Reverend Gordon Turner our minister was doing his visitations and stopped by to see me bearing with a gift greater than even he realized It was a book by Richard entitled Let My Heart Be Broken Thi3book not only opened my mind and my heart but my soul and allowed You to work in me Your spirit through this book made me realize 1 was one of the most fortunate people on earth It told of the people of India who were starving had almost nothing to wear no homes and death was their constant companion including tiny babies I had loving parents relatives and friends who I never dreamed cared I had the beat doctors a clean bed good food and the luxury of a window beside my bed The most import thing I realized even then is that You had granted me the greatest gift of Why I didn know But my life changed That love is really the strength upon which we build our lives the love of family friends and most of all our love for You During my our month stay In made many friends and was able to give and receive much Joy and love As the months quickly passed my shattered femur became whole again You healed my leg Thank You During these four months I never worried about whether or not it would heal Somehow I was filled with joy laughter love and the peace of mind to relax and let You and the doctors take care of it Now Tarn able to run walk dance skate and swim like others I never take these simple things for granted I always remember how close I came to spending my life either on crutches or in a wheelchair Please forgive me for taking so long a time to let You know how grateful I am hat You did lake control of that day events that sunny Saturday afternoon With all my heart I once again thank You for my and my healthy legs Though this letter of thanks I hope to let others know of Your greatness and miracles that You lovingly grant us each day Love Nancy I share with you this letter of thanks giving to God for there are so many who don know that God help is an everyday September titled News from Neepawa Your editorial began So another Union Is holding the public to ransom with he strike of the postal carriers I can see no tie in whatsoever between your opening statement and the body of your editorial which criticizes postal delivery during normal times i when there Is no strike It appears that you blame postal earners for a generally poor postal service Do you really believe that the postal carrier manage the Post Office and indeed arc able to make decisions and policies regarding postal service I suggest that your opening line was a conclusion of guilt by association Furthermore your views were designed to pander only to the reactionary elements within our society I would refer you to the editorial in The Herald which also appeared on September 27th with regards to the postal strike In this same editorial it is suggested that The Letter Carriers Union of Canada bargained in good faith and mode every effort to head off a strike The Union offered to meet With Treasurer Board to continue negotiations three wit Its before the strike occurred and stated that the Unions position was flexible If the Treasury Board negotiators had one ounce of Labour Relations sense they would taken that message as a cue that the Union was not only willing to meet but prepared to reduce its demands Instead Board stonewalled and even return to the bargaining table until one day before the deadline At that time Hoard presented a no change proposal which had been rejected by the pasties I am convinced that the government through Treasury provoked this strike told the that tin would be legislated to work should they exercise their riRht strike One could almost imagine Prime Minister drooling with at tin thought of the reactionary voles he would reap from his proposed hirvest I must refer to your editorial is ehup attempt at the pastime of Union bashing Had researched in responsible manner I m sure tint at I some of the points I with regards to
