Were a spoiled generation in a spoiled nation Last night I stood behind a woman in the checkout line of a major supermarket She was struggling with five children and judging by the piled grocery cart all five were her own As she pushed her purchases onto the moving belt several cake mixes cans of ravioli TV dinners cat food paper towels and sham poo she complained bitterly about the rising cost of food Were doing It to ourselves The more we condone rising cools the more we buy the more its going to cost We are a spoiled generation In a spoiled nation It wasnt long ago the height of opulence was indoor plumbing Now If you dont half a ha If baths you feel embarrassed The first house for most young couples years ago consisted of a livingdining room kitchen and two or three small bedrooms Now young people are bitter about the price of housing yet they demand a full family room two bathrooms a mud room separate dining room and built In dishwasher for heavens sake Otirderoands swell system Ive digressed from the food issue but I hope you get my drift Food Is the major problem in all the world today as it was yesterday Unfortunately the situation is getting worse and made worse by the affluent nations raising living stan dards and expectations far above necessary Our demands support the million dollar cor porations who extend to the poorer nations the helping hand of profit Those nations grasp the hand wooed by promises of belter living and the rich get richer while the poor get poorer We can help stop the imbalance and help ourselves by slowing down our own demands In the area of food we can buy more prepared food and unnecessary items rely on ourselves more I know its been said before but It still isnt working The grocery shelves are piled higher than ever with mixes boxes powders and chemical junk People are viously buying it or it wouldn be there Have you any idea how much you pay a cor poration to mix a bunch of cake ingredients together for you With a little
