Regional council approved Wednesday July 4 a motion leasing it to the women group effective in October The motion was put forward by the finance and administration com mittee It said That the pre mises known as Hugh St the police station be leased to Women Place for one year commencing in October for subject to the payment of the total purchase price which will be determined at a later dale prior to the end of the term of the lease The motion also authorized staff to pre pare reports pertaining to per diem fees for vice integration of ser vices and day care as well as the separation of the lot which is part of the regional land parcel The building would be used as an emergency shelter for abused women and their depend children Womens Place is a volunteer incor porated association formed in to examine the possibility of setting up an emergency shelter It will make use of support systems such social services Children Aid and the police The cost of the shelter was raised at three acre property furn ishings and equipment have totalled approx imately Capit al funds raised by service clubs organizations business firms Regions of Halton and Peel indiv iduals and the Ontario Society for Crippled Children together with Ontario government grants have paid for this Centre As the first year of operating the Centre draws to a close it was noted that provincial grants and donations service clubs and Friendsindeed Group ends for summer individuab have covered the operational costs The audited report for the period ending March shows a total revenue of with expenses for the children who attend daily are both educational and therapeutic Those who come as out patients receive therapeutic treatment Assistance is provided for parents also through an indiv counselling school classes etc Programs this summer will feature a dally recreation classes in conjunction with Recreation Branch a language group Plans for the school year are Intended to provide for Nursery School enrolment to increase from Its 32 to 36 the classes for school age students to total or 33 a swimming therapy opportunity in a pool for reg ular students more meetings for parents etc It is hoped that service clubs other and individuals will continue to provide the financial support that the Credit Valley Treat ment Centre for Children needs and deserves The Association Board of
