admission she was mentally 111 and was so at the the fire Mr wanted to know whether Mrs Jones was Incapable of appreciating the moral wrong she was doing The doctor told the court Mrs Jones felt her actions were justified She felt tortured by and expressed several times she was not responsible for what happened Dr Robert Hill director of forensic services at Clark explained that Mrs Jones grew up in west ern Canada and married at an early age Early in the marriageshe started suffering mental and physical abuse With the husband and wife work ing hard building their lives they had no re lationship at home The house was filled with dis harmony he testified Mrs Jones he said had been consulting doctors for her depression and was on medication Mrs Jones felt psychotoglcly trapped he said Dr Kill Mrs Jones depression came to a head In April With an increasingly rigid and burdened belief she couldnt escape he said she came to believe she had to die and that the two victims must die with her Dr Hill said Mrs Jones did not apprciate the implications of what was happening Mrs Jones is still very ill Hill said and it Is going to take some time for her to get well She has a scattered recollection of what happened but she feels as if she was watching from a dis tance Some things Mrs Jones remembered shortly after the fire he said she cannot re member now Mr asked the doctor if an insane person is capable of getting gas beforehand and planning something Dr Hill explained that Mrs Jones was not totally disoriented but is the type who has lost touch with reality She an in dividual who is dictated by an insane attitude he claimed Mrs Jones lawyer Mr Greenspan in his closing remarks to the jury pointed out if she was found Innocent by reason of insanity she would be detained in a light security hospital until the province feels she is ready to come out endorsed this disposition of Mrs Jones Mr Justice pointed out to the jury there was no contest of evidence in
