Wednesday evening present and past members of Acton Golden Age Club of Senior Cit gathered at Hal to cele brate the 15th annivers ary of the Club No of Zone 13 They were Joined by in vited guests Clare Reed president of Zone 13 and his wife and Mrs Mar Shaw secretary of the zone also by Rev and Mrs Ewing and Pete mayor of Hills Honored guests the Charter Members and present executive were called to the Head Table and introduced by Bert Davidson master of cere monies for the evening He a Charter Member and has served a total he thought one would be provided in the near future Mr Reed brought greetings lions and good wishes from the zone and ex pressed the pleasure It gave both him and his wire to be asked to come and enjoy the evening and get better acquainted with this club and its members Mr Besley on behalf of the club welcomed all guests and expressed appreciation to everyone who had helped A walnut plaque donated to the Club by Bud was grate fully received The names of all presidents secretaries and treasurers are to be en graved on the plaque both past and future in recognition and years as president and memory of and for two years as service given charter members were In attendance at the olden Club anniversary dinner last week tor Annie Lambert Bert Davidson Jack president of zone 13 Charter Members present were Mr and Mrs Jack Hargrave Annie Lambert Elsie Reed and Bert Davidson The present executive consists of Harry Besley vicepresident now acting President during the illness of president Johnny Watkins Graham second vice- president Mrs Edna Besley secretary and Irene Davidson surer Mrs Clifford Storey made and donated a delicious Anniversary take inscribed and suit ably decorated for the occasion Mrs Storey is well noted for her ability as a superb cook and baker always carrying off many prizes at Fall Fairs in fact carrying off the Grand Champion Prize for three years for winning the most prizes in the Domestic Science lass Mr Pomeroy brought greetings lions and good wishes to the Club and said a need for a Dropin Centre for senior citizens was noticed Acton This was being looked into and Besley asked Reed to come for ward and after reading a poem of tribute prised her by presenting her with a walnut plaque inscribed quote In Appreciation of nine years of Faithful Service to Acton Golden Age Club The poem was one composed by Mrs Reed and read by her to James Ralston first President of the Club on his retire ment from office and being presented his Past President and now thought appropriate for this occasion Mrs Reed was overwhelmed and deeply moved by this surprising token of the Clubs esteem Mrs had begun as the first secretary when the club was organized and for nine consecutive hereafter and had served in capacities in the zone Bert Davidson was presented with his third past presidents pin Bert has served a total of nine years Three different terms at three different time during the Clubs 15 year term and was elected vice- president then president of Zone He has always given very freely of his time and use of his car and has always been a very hard worker in the and has brought vast exper ience gleaned from the activities in various other organizations in which he has been an integral part He is capable eager and willing and has a knack of getting things done Mrs Nellie Merkley and her sister Miss Marjone Hall who ore leaving Acton and taking up residence in Toronto were called forward by Irene Davidson and pre sented stick pins in appreciation of their valued help with the program
