funds Despite stolen 8 grade from MackenzieSmith Middle School will be going to Washington on May principal John Simpson A thief still unknown made off with a portion of student money design for the trip from a teachers locked locker sometime between a and 1pm May Mr Simpson refused to reveal the exact amount of money saying its in the hands of the Regional Police but he commented It was In excess of 100 It appears Mr Simp- Ran said someone may have entered the school through the public por tion or the school kept open for access to the swimming pool How ever he remarks evid ence Indicates the thief knew the combination of the lock and the exact whereabouts of the money The combination lock was opened and a locked teachers room through which the thief travelled revealed ence of someone working away at the locks says Mr Simpson There are only two places in the school where the com nation can be found according to the The money will be re placed by the Halton School Board and the teacher who was respon for the money in a split Unfortunately the onus Is on the teacher HE- iilaflfl I SIX -V- llMt iBBBBHrfillSIt I Three yearold I aura Isnt a student at St Josephs but she the money In trust Mr Simpson says The four day trip will cost each student Youngsters raised money and had the help of a donation from the Skate- a Its put a damper on the trip Mr Simpson agrees weve talked to the students asking for clues and Information Its a serious question of trust factor we have to rethink what to expect in Washington But we wouldnt have cancelled the trip police are still Investigating the matter with no further develop ments Police consider cruisers Halton Regional Police would like to move to smaller more fuel ef ficient cruisers but these cars are presenting some problems Police Com mlssloners were told the smaller cars will mean officers will have to learn how to drive again as the cars are lighter in weight but have large engines One civilian member of the force has tried the small carlarge engine combination and he found it a very powerful handful The other problem is that the extras police need like limited slip differentials heavy duty suspensions and stabilizer bars are not often available on the new generation smaller cars While these options are in many cases standard on large cars Police Chief Jim Harding said he believes the force should move to mid size Police are now ten derlng for replacement and com miss loners decided to leave the size open so that police could get quotes on all typos of cars a e Lepage help make it easy Four
