miscellaneous candy plants and pantry booths all played unique and beautiful Items After noon lea tables were busy until closing time Numerous draws added to the excitement the event The grand draw of a latch hook rug which had been mode by member Mrs El3le Syme was won by Mrs G Moreau of 17 Elizabeth Drive The second prize of a Barbie Doll and wardrobe went to Mrs Alverla Stanger of Indian Head Sank The previous fall fair draw of Barbie and her wardrobe was won by Mrs Mary Lemon St The knitting group draw of a Molly 0 cake was won by Mrs Grace Nellea while the miscellaneous group draw of a knitted purse was won by Mrs Bessie Mussellc The Christmas cake draw from the Pantry shelf booth was won by Mrs Ruth Holmes Penny table winner of he large basket of groceries was Mrs Joan Ford while celebrated Sunday of lemoon by George and Emma Hilton The couple were married December 31 1931 but because of unpredictable weather at that time of year it was decided to combine Mrs Hilton birth day on Saturday and the anniversary ions The couple were married In St George Church and made their home on the bride Barber family farm Mrs Hilton has lived her entire life there Mr Hilton was bom In our next meeting on November Mrs Rene Watson and her daughter will show us some ceramics and it was suggested that an invitation to attended be sent to the Golden Ago Club of Acton We all wish our sick members Bud Maria Mabel Shirley Ethel a speedy recovery and hope to sec them at our next meeting This year being the year of the disabled we decided to have a float In the Santa Clnus parade So let a hope for lovely weather for that great event their final stages Our Christmas dinner will be held on December In the parish hall and will be catered once again by the Dublin Women s Institute Following the business meeting 35 League members and invited guests listened to a Ing as well as lnfor ma live presentation by Slater Joanne Director of St Martin Manor in Hamilton Babies ing babies was the theme of her talk and slide presentation Most of the Manor support over the past 2fl years has come from CWL a and Holy Name Socie ties Sister Joanne said that 1 teenage girls week across Canada get pregnant and onethird are terminated by abor tion St Martins offers a viable alternative Catholic as well as non- Catholic girls are corned at St Martin and only 12 ore in residence at one at St Martin They In clude an educational on a onetoone a life skill pro gram which focuses on menu and meal as well as ing grocery a med ical program that ties in closely with St Joseph Hospital and the St Elizabeth visiting nurses Prenatal lnfor biological data and proper well balanced meals are stressed A social and recreational program is also available to the which Includes and swimming year round These facilities provided by charitable friends of St Martins Group and Individual counselling arc avail able not only to the girls themselves but to the hurt parents and father of the unborn child if he desires Sister Joanne said Thanksgiving wc en and birthdays are occasions used to create an atmosphere of celebration because the girls have made the right decision to have the baby rather than choosing abortion She said this la an emotional and upsetting time for the girls and even at their young ago they have to make the most Important decision of their lives whether to keep their babies or give them up for adoption They are given pros and cons of both sides Close tabs are kept on the girls even when they leave St Martins and ongoing help and sup port Is available to them The
