the best last week on their anniversary To celebrate he occasion they enjoyed a quiet dinner with friends Mr and Mrs Harv Lafcrty Jessie and Tom were married at the home of Tom parents in Gutiph on March 1942 They have been re sidents of and have owned and operated the Mill End Store on Main Street for many years The Horticultural Club will be showing slides of Old Houses April tonight Karen brate Mrs Debbie Anderson brought a large decorated birth day cake and Mrs Eleanor McKown also helped organize the event which was also a farewell for Charlie three sisters who had been visiting Janet Mrs Kate Johnston and Mrs Agnes left by air for Saskatchewan on Saturday morning Mrs Myrtle Allan wife or the late John Allan passed away Sunday at the Eden House Nursing Home where she had been a re sident for many years She was Mr and Mrs John Allan farmed at Lot Con 2 Erin Town ship retiring in 1952 to Acton where they resided next to Knox Presbyterian Church on Main St John passed away in 1958 they had no family Mrs Jean Patterson is a niece and our sympathy is ex tended to her at this lime Churchill annual Easter Pancake Break fast will be held at the church Easter morning The men of the was in the little church that he loved that funeral services were held for this prominent and respected gen on Wednesday March In a way Mr Mar shall was the father of the village as it was through his efforts that Eden Mills became a police vUlage in 1930 He was one of the first trustees and village secretary for years In he and two other men were presented with life membership scrolls by the Community Club In recognition of their tireless work towards the community built Mr Marshall was a member of the Masonic Lodge He was proud of the fact that his great grandfather John Ramsey took out the first deed in Township and was the first settler His grand mother Mary Scott was the first white child bom in that township Mr Marshal was the genial proprietor of the genera store here from 192S to 1967 and also postmaster during those years In 1925 he married Gladys Mahoney of Guelph and they had two sons Norman R who predeceased him in 1372 and Donald of Guelph There are seven grand sons to carry on the Marshall name two granddaughters and three great gran ldren The village mourns this dedicated citizen Tragedy struck the MacPherson home on Wednesday afternoon was out in the garage culling some wood when his sweater caught in the table saw and dragged his arm in He was rushed to Toronto by ambulance but doctors there had to amputate his left arm from just below the elbow It is
