20yearold hobby took a new direction after a few years and Knechtel found himself making jewellery out of some of his pieces This portion of the hobby advanced to the stage he is at today con fident in his ability to make desk and pen sets and clocks out of the nicer pieces of rock Some of the clocks made by are of British Columbian jade and Italian marble He ex plains he takes a slab of rock and polishes it to a smooth surface It takes about one week of con vibration in a special machine to get the desired Once the rock is polished a hole is drilled In the centre and the clock works put In
