The Acton Free Press Wednesday Piano students perform at recital last Wednesday district by Barbara Funk The piano student of Mrs Ariel held their annual rotate recital at Centennial School on Wednesday June opened the evenings program with Arabesque by composer Robert The students who performed were Vanessa Helen Kraiina Ingleaon Charles Bunce Jeff Lisa Verhagen Aaron Stevens Para Ingle Matthew Birdie Kingsbury and Lynn Misurka Highlights of the evening Included the duets performed by Lisa Verhagen and her mother and Aaron Stevens and his mother Guest performers for the evening were students of the School of Ballet Kitchener The students were led by ballet mistress and choreo grapher Rosemary Doyle The dancers were Beckie McCoy Gow Katie Schmidt and Jay The long Women s Institute held their quilt draw at the Lions Chicken Barbecue on Saturday at Centre The winner of the quilt was Mrs Rose Anderson Arthur Si Acton with ticket number The cushion was won by Mrs Jessie Gellatly Main St with ticket number The Institute wishes to express their thanks to everyone for their support Monday was the last day of school Centennial spent the day giving out awards for the past year The primary awards assembly was held in the morning The primary grades entertained with musical selections as well as the primary choir Ian presented a poem Mrs Jan Mc Donald received the educational was held to honor Mrs Marion Tubman who is retiring this year Mrs township for the last years with the last 12 years spent at Centennial Shelly Ward presented her with red roses from the students and hole The Lions and Lioness are willing to pay for the filling in of a hole at the back of cemetery and may upgrade the entire cemetery At a public meeting last Tuesday evening village residents learned the Cemetery Board is financially unable to fill the hole in the cemetery It was hoped the villagers would make donations to the cemetery so this work could proceed Park Edge Develop ments had offered the Jobfor The public meeting was called after village trustees were served with a petition to fix the hole The trustees had approached Township council for financial aid but were told to ask for assistance from the provincial government At this level they were advised there is no provision made for cemeteries The trustees returned to township council and were again denied assistance At this time they decided to appeal to villagers for donations and If none were forthcoming then the hole would have to be filled as fill became available Harry Bonner said that it wasn t only the hole that had to be filled but the appearance of the enure cemetery needed Improvement Don offered a donation of or a new shed If the location of the shed could be changed and shed torn down Barbara Bonner
