Wednesday March 16 Driving range only the beginning planning new course For the past couple of years local golf enthusiasts hoping to improve their game had to bead for Brampton or in search of a driving range No more Local pro and former assistant at North Haiton Golf and Country Cub Terry will be opening the Golf Centre this summer It is located half way between Georgetown and Acton on the JC Duff property directly across the road from Shell The centre will bouse the driving and practice range this season but Terry long range plans see a lot more in the works Miskolczi describes the driving range and practice centre as the first phase of a com plete complex In phase one Miskolczi is planning a putting green that should be ready by mid- June along with places to practise tee shots bunker play and fairway trap shots While the putting green will take longer the remainder of the course is expected to be open by mid April Following the completion phase one Terry will begin looting at phase two of his project the golf course itself The former touring pro has already des igned the IS hole course and has gone as far as having It measured at yards The first nine holes are being considered for the spring of 1965 with the completion in five or six years time That t where it ends Phase three of the Silveraeek Golf Centre would turn into the SUvercreek Golf and Country Club A three storey Victorian club house along with an indoor pool health dub 1 yard indoor track and few tennis courts that could be bubbled in winter are all part of the long range forecast In an appeal to local golfers Miskolczi is offering some active packages for the golfer who wants to practice The SUvercreek Golf Centre is offering three plans in which budding Jack can keep their game In shape The Range Plan a yearly membership at the facility and it will run for the year For that the member can hit buckets all day long and as many buckets a week as they should desire The Range and Lesson Plan or Summer Golf School will run from m till 1030 on the proposed lighted lot from Tuesday to Saturday For is offering unlimited balls plus instruction when needed While lesson times are not booked Terry will have a qualified teacher there to help any member requiring it The daily bucket is also available to any one driving by for One of Terry s main concerns will be Juniors He will be directing his ball bitting talents to them in a special program The Junior golf program will cost and com mence in midMay I want to see the Juniors play better commented but they have to develop their game Terry will offer lessons to the youngsters on Saturdays and Sundays from midMay till school ends and then Saturday through Thursday from am to m once school ends Terry hoping that once the range is off the ground the course will follow When J Duff is finished excavating sand and gravel from the pit the land must be returned to its original state course design could be built while reconstruction work Is being done The course itself would resemble some of the more memorable holes Terry has played during his time touring Canada Australia and New Zealand as a golf pro While much of the SUvercreek Golf Centre is still a long range plan that even been proposed to the Town of Haiton Hills the driving range is currently in a two week appeal period and following that time the project should hit full swing If the weather remains mild Terry could be swamped with business in the early going as hackers and scratch golfers alike try to limber up for the season ahead While limbering up
