newspaper such as this ah but that was acme time ago that would find myself bent over a smoking type writer furiously pounding out a for a deadline that was already growing cold in lis grave I promised myself each time I did that that I would be more organized next time would Get It Aiong came another crack at university at a higher level of learning yet and I once again would often find myself wasnt so long ago cither hunched over a burning typewriter while a deadline for an essay sank with a hiss and a gurgle Well I would still GetltTogethersaidlto myself Said I Along came ministry And here I ait con over a typewriter keyboard the temperature of the sun surface while the deadline for the Clergy Comment column gets entered in the Memories of Yesteryear file Oh well At least it has taught me something all over again which everyone whom I have met needs to be reminded of once in a while And that learning is that we can never quite Get It Together all by ourselves It is a lonely frustrating and more often than not Fruitless task When lifes trials expose the weaknesses and flaws that reside in all of us w all feel the desire to patch ourselves up sew together our loose ends throw the de cayed stuff away and get on with living a new life If only it were so easy If only we could bring ourselves to the place in life that we want to be all by ourselves If only becoming the people we really would like to be were Just a matter of sewing a lorn garment or adding a button to a shirt or taking out tbe garbage once a week But its far more complicated and difficult than that When one wishes to gel it all together one must first remember where It was put Its like that with our humanity When we wish to become the kind of people wed really like to be say for instance compassionate considerate of others joyfulwe need to find out where and how that kind of person has been made before Theres a good answer in the New Testa ment The one who really had it Together was Jesus who was called tbe Christ Id him we see a picture of the kind of human life that God intended us ail to have when he first started doodling with the clay back in Eden If we look to Jesus we 11 find where it was put And there s more than just that for us as well the New Testament witnesses soy that he arose and that he II help us Put It Together as he Put It Together The kind of humanity that was in Christ can and will be in us when we let the Spirit of Christ dwell in us Thats partly what Lent is all about and Good Friday and Easter and all of it were on a lifelong journey in which gradually and with much care God is putting us to gether into the perfect image of Jesus the unique Son Nobody I know has it all to gether yet But God is patient so we should be too Journey on Growth isnt over yet The Acton Salvation Army held a hake lilt at BapUii Church Saturday Mrs CapUln Winnie and Marsh were on hand to help sell the goods Os Guides on exchange Legion happenings by Harry
