somebody Rolls Royce away from him During his years as sheriff of Mr has also seized a variety of vehicles including a Model A Ford some Da Huns bulldozers a number of small boats and a yacht Far from the oily mustachioed villain of foreclosure fantasy the sheriff Is a clean shaven soft spoken man with kind blue eyes Although the sheriffs office has the power to bring debtors seized goods chatties and land to public auction such extreme measures are rarely used he says noting seizure of personal goods like furniture and household possessions are infrequent in Halton However the number of writs issued continues to rise The summons allows the sheriff to demand money owed to creditors or seize property Goods and chatties may be offered at public auction after eight days and land after 12 months The number of writs filed in 1902 in was over three times the number recorded In a period which saw only a per cent increase in population current economic downturn has not increased the number of scenes involving the sheriff and a large moving van at the front of homes But the recession manifests itself in more subtle ways he says indicating there has been an increase In the number of bank seizures money in bank accounts mortgage seizures and rent seizures over the last five years Rent seizure is a process where are Instructed to make rents payable to the sheriff office in the case of a claim against the owner of rental property The sharp increase in mortgage rates may account for the increased incidents of landlords who find themselves caught short he says Most of the defendants who job also calls on Sprowl to meet with defendant to assure them of their rights and reasonable options Often acting as liaison between lawyers and defendant Sheriff Sprowl helps those in financial crisis discuss assets and liab ilities and to help them make the right move Sometimes those in debt fall into a night mare cycle of borrowing from Peter to pay Paul borrowing from financial agencies
