Georgetown Saturday Acton lost to Barrie 104 Sabres started off rather slowly as the Colts rocketed to a three goal lead early in the first It wasnt until thelater half of the opening period that Acton finally came alive blasting In three quick goals to tie tbe match Scott Kennedy assisted by Rick Dodds and at 17 St Paul assisted by Paul and Brian Dan one put the Sabres back Into the game With just seconds remaining in the first period Fraser with assists from and Karl Meyer thwarted the defense to tie the game As the second period opened the Sabres found themselves killing a penalty carried over from the first period The Colts werfeon a and by the 30 second mark of the second period was ahead by one The Sabres were not to be denied a chance of beating the top seated Colts as Randy Coverdale tied up tbe game with assists from Rick and Paul From that point on the game was a see saw affair with the Colts going ahead at and the Sabres rallying at Ken Frank assisted by Carglll dashed down the Ice to the Barrie and tie the game As the second period drew to a close the Sabres sacrificed their defensive style of hockey to try and take the lead Unfortun ately for the Sabres the Colts took full ad vantage of a weakened defense and grabbed a quick two goal lead The third period provided some of the most entertaining hockey the Sabres have given their home fans this year It started off on a downbeat the Colts managed to increase their lead by three at the52secondmark Moments later it looked like It was all over for the Sabres when smashed In another goal for a four marker lead The Sabres however did not give up and a change In net seemed to renew their deter mination to win With Paul Morrison in the net replacing Demone assisted by Franklin and gave Acton a much needed shot in Ihe arm with a picture perfect shot from the point Minutes later the Acton fans were on the edge of Iheir seats as the Sabres trans formed themselves into a well oiled offen sive machine assisted by Denis dodged around a faltering Colts defense and closed the gap between the two teams The Sabres continued to control the game for the rest of the period but an intercepted pass gave the Colts the clinching goal at the mark undaunted the Sabres continued to fight until the bitter end scoring once more with a fourth goal by to end the game 104 While the Sabres played a good Ihree periods the Colts managed to out shoot the Acton squad 5735 The Sabres coach Gary Hudson said he waa pleased with their performance ally since they were playing one of the top teams in the league Weve got to work on clearing the puck out of our own end a lot faster remarked Hudson Ifwecankeepitoutofourendand continue to score the goals things will defin itely be looking up On Saturday the coaching staff had no comments after the game and it was no wonder as a thoroughly disorganized Acton club was wiped out at the hands of the Georgetown Gemini 92 The only in the entire match the Sabres even remotely showed any Indication they were a Junior B club was in the later hair of the first period when Clint Walts assisted by Ken Kevanagh tied the game at one goal apiece A few minutes later the Gemini took the lead again but a quick goal by Carglll seconds later put Acton back in line Georgetown At this point the Sabres might as well have gone home because the Georgetown squad walked all over the Sabres The final humiliating result was a lop sided defeat for the Acton club As well as looking bad on the scoreboard the Sabres took a beating in the penalty department as they chalked up two game misconducts and over minutes In penal ties In two periods The Sabres will travel to Burlington November and on November 26 the local squad will host at 8 30 Midgets tally nine wins
