riders and horses with years of experience and instead of being out classed she took advantage of her situation to learn all she could about the sport from the best in the world Instead of spending years work y way to Olympic competitions was enough to start at the top and when I was surrounded with the best equestrian riders In the world I learned a lot about the sport rather quickly said Stubbs Bom and raised in Toronto Stubbs didnt start riding until she was yearsold and in horsemanship circles 12y earsold is a rather late start In the sport Everyone In my family liked but I had more than Just a liking so I invest for four lessons and began my carm remarked Stubbs went on to explain that there are three different types of equestrian riding jumping three day eventing and dressage and after trying all three she specialized in dressage at age 19 After specializing Stubbs spent the next two years training with her partner ahorse When choosing a horse the rider consider the horses personality and ment remarked Stubbs and the animal must have a beautiful naturally athletic body They the horses arc rarely thoroughbreds because the pure blooded animals are usually quite high strung and hard to control in a highly disciplined sport like dressage continued Stubbs Most of the animals are warm bloods or half thoroughbred and half work horse After a rider has found the right horse and some of them can cost millions of dollars it takes about six years to train tbe animal for international competition said Stubbs After the Olympics Stubbs in Munich Germany retired her horse and began to train a new True North for the 167S Pan Am games Competing against some of the best bones and riders in tbe world Stubbs amazed her teammates and her opponents by winning the silver medal
