GeorgetownActon Wednesday Apr Reader decries stories about trappers Dear ST paper should start writing human interest true nature lovers stories Uv children cried alter seeing these poor beasts up by the scruff of their neck Ten me what do these trsppers do when catch perfectly harmless house pets About six years ago we bad a skinny black cat stray oo to our properly Once we knew he want suffering from a disease we fattened him up and he became the greatest pet anyone could wish for Well two winters ago we let him out one day He did not return that day We began to worry after our hunt for him did not show up anything One week later on a snowy day Blacky dragged himself a our side door We felt he had been In a fight Wcrushedhlmtoa veterinarian We left him there for a couple of days as his back leg was nearly ripped off When we returned the veterinarian explained that this was not an injury from a fight but an injury from a trap We couldnt imagine there were traps in our area Allthehoir around his mouth was worn off His leg was nearly ripped off at the- tarsal area and he had a deep hole in his paw also Ten years ago our two beautiful collies mysteriously disappeared and when I followed their tracks in the snow we met up with men a tracks After a year of expensive ads etc we gave up our search Boy these would make lovely trophies for someone roc room After we lost Blacky you had written an article about a trapper made me sick If our boys werent involved with sports in Acton we would never buy your paper Now a second article Why dont you print this letter with the pictures Ive enclosed You to enjoy the trap per stories but never about heart broken nature lovers We lived in the country near Acton for 15 years We own beautiful Arabian horses no edible beasts two dogs We have mysteriously lost three cats two of which strayed onto our property ably victims of heartless people that think they need cats in their bam but never spay their animals We also have mysteriously lost two dogs At that time we lived in an area that was all bush My collies would not hurt a lea My neighbors have lost a beautiful collie and an old beagle We have seen a fox once in fact lately it very rare to see a rabbit Other than ground hogs there is nothing much else Possibly if the trappers would stay at home we wouldnt have so many groundhogs Why they move to the arctic Did they see Neva Cry Wolf That story proved that the wolf is kinder and wiser than man Walt Disney had a beautiful heartwarming story last Sunday about a fox By the way Blacky was left with a serious limp and possibly unable to pro ted himself Nature always destroys the unhealthy they do not need the trappers All our cats were neutered males We have never had a pet lulled by a vehicle We have built two homes Goo feet from the roadway to protect our children and pets I used to love to buy your paper when Jennifer Barr used to write about all the true nature lovers I wait to pur chase each issue Since then you have not had much to offer Do you know how many pet owners nature lovers live in this area Nell is supplies us with a beautiful area to ride our horses and we truly enjoy nature Sincerely Annette 10 years Saturday was the first time I really forth from the town limits and explored the countryside on foot Gord and I and two friends from Glen Williams Sandra and Paul took tage of the beautiful spring day and took a hike on the Bruce Trail somewhere north of the Glen lean tell you Growing up in CoHingwood the Bruce Trail is very familiar to me We used to spend our Sundays hiking and exploring But that seemed like forever ago I had forgotten how much 1 love hiking through the bushes and how relaxing it is to sit by a stream resting weary bones ThercwasiitiUalototsnowinplaces but not deep enough to cause any troubles for our runningshoe clad feet Our dog Son dy explored every nook and cranny on either side of the wom path and although she was caked with mud she had just as good if not belter a lime than we did It felt like we walked about miles but I think my short legs deceived me It was probably no more than a mile or two but still a fair trek Surprisingly there were no sore muscles the next day And Just as I thought I go on of water I heard a shout from a house high on a hill Is that you Helen Turns out it was former Acton residents Sy and Elly Vandermeer They had seen Gord and Paul first and spotted hat what else Sy t sure if it was but when he spatted me keeping up the slack a nun yards behind he knew he was right stopped in to their place for some a coffee beer Naturally once we had stopped and relaxed in civilization the walk back to the car on the road took eternity At least through the bush we couldn t see how far we hod to go Some illusions were shattered that day also Paul and Sandra found out I am rified of walking over bridges with water running beneath They also found out our beloved pet isn t as well behaved as they always thought and takes several orders or commands before she come back to her masters We explore any caves like I used to in my youth but the scenery and at mosphere were just as great The Murray s all slept like logs that night especially the dog YOUR HOME ENTERTAINMENT CENTER EXTRA SALE SPECIALS 20 COLOR TV BYMAGNAVOX Auto Color Control Auto Flna Tuning Yr Part Warranty 448 ZENITH PORTABLE BETA PHILC0VHS BY
